Animal Webaction visited the site 19 July 2021 and confirms the situation described below.
"The situation of the street cats is catastrophic, some eat rubbish, most of the kittens have caught coryza. I take care of about a hundred cats, in several different neighbourhoods, and the number is constantly increasing because more and more cats are abandoned...
The lack of means is the number one problem of our association. We have to ration the kibble, and the cats already don't eat enough. Some of them have lost weight, they have become vulnerable... Today, we only have a few kilos of kibble left, which will last us a few days.
I feel great despair, especially as our association is the only one in the area to fight for these cats. If we don't find any kibble, these cats will starve to death... I don't want to see them die and become fragile in front of my eyes without me being able to help them..."
"If we don't find more kibble, we will have to stop feeding the street cats in most areas, or maybe even completely. I am afraid for them, I fear they will starve to death... Especially now, as the holidays are approaching...
All restaurants and grocery shops will be closed during the holidays. If we can't find food for these cats, they won't eat anything during this period...
The cats are already vulnerable, 70% of them have scabies or other skin infections, some have had relapses due to lack of food. If we have to stop feeding them, the situation will only get worse... the slightest infection can cost them their lives..."
"Fluffy is one and a half years old. He lives on the street and we have been feeding him since he was a baby. Recently, we noticed that he was suffering from severe diarrhoea.
He has become too thin and weak. Fluffy is also very fearful, he can't defend himself and he depends on the kibble we give him.
It is important that we can continue to feed him, medical treatment alone will not be enough. He needs to gain weight and strength, otherwise he won't survive for long..."
"Our association depends solely on donations, which we don't receive enough of. The pandemic has made the situation worse, we receive even fewer donations than before. People can't donate anymore because they are affected by the crisis.
In addition to the food costs, we are busy sterilising as many cats as possible, while more and more animals are abandoned on our feeding sites! We don't have enough donations to feed all the cats that depend on us... We already owe 400 euros to the pet shop.
I feel a great sadness, I am unable to find a solution for these cats. My only hope is this collection. Without help, we will be overwhelmed by debts and we will end up stopping our actions altogether."
"The Marlis association was created in 2017, with the aim of fighting against the misery of street animals, by sterilising them, caring for them, and feeding them. Sarah is the president of the association, and I am the only volunteer who helps her.
Our work is essential because we are the only ones who take care of the cats in our neighbourhoods. We also raise awareness about sterilisation to prevent cats from breeding. We really need people's support to continue our actions."
Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Morocco, which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.
"We have a Facebook page dedicated to our association, where we post news. We have already tried online fundraising but that doesn't work like it used to, unfortunately. We have to break our backs for a few euros, which in the end don't help us much.
We have tried to look for organisations but we haven't found any that can help us buy kibble. We have really knocked on every possible door, but to no avail... our only hope is this campaign."
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the collected products, the beneficiary receives nothing and the buyers get a refund..
