Animal Webaction visited the site 23 July 2021 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Sally is running out of kibble to feed the many street dogs her association cares for. They are at risk of starving to death!

%%%

"I take care of nearly 1000 street dogs. There are more and more dogs on the streets every week. It is impossible to take them all to the sanctuary, I am only able to take in the ones in very poor health. We try our best to sterilize them, care for them, and feed them all on the streets... But this requires a lot of resources, which we don't have.

I only have 27 bags of kibble left for them today, which will last us 8 days. If I can't find more kibble for them, they will really suffer from a lack of food. These are dogs in distress that are most in need of food and care, and a lack of kibble will put them in a difficult situation.

I fear that the dogs will be hungry, sick, and maybe even die because of the lack of food. They are like my kids, they need me, I can't give up on them..."

2. In her sanctuary, Sally also cares for 550 dogs. Vulnerable and with a difficult past, they won't be able to survive a lack of kibble either!

%%%

"There are currently 550 dogs at the sanctuary. Many of them are in critical condition, they need care, and they need to eat regularly, but it is difficult to keep up with the costs...

If I don't find more kibble soon, their health will be in danger, especially since they already are so vulnerable. Hunger will also make them aggressive, and I won't be able to control over 500 dogs in that case...

It will be very difficult to feed all the dogs in my shelter in the upcoming months... I really need this campaign to succeed so that I can continue caring for them."

3. Zena was found on the street a few days ago with her ears and tail cut off. Sick and weak, she will have no chance at life without kibble.

###

"Zena is about three months old. A couple found her in the street in terrible condition a few days ago, she was screaming very loudly. Her ears and her tail had been cut off... I brought her to the vet where she was treated and vaccinated.

She also has severe allergies, and her overall health is very bad. She is now at the sanctuary, where she is safe. She will need a lot of love and care, and it is essential that I can continue feeding her and giving her everything she needs."

4. The pandemic has severely impacted donations, while bills are rising. Heavily indebted, Sally can no longer afford to buy kibble.

###

"We used to receive more donations before the pandemic. But then, during the pandemic, people started losing their jobs, and as a consequence, money and food donations became fewer and fewer...

We are facing difficulties trying to feed all of these dogs, and also keeping up with sterilization and other vet bills. We already owe the vet over 20,000 euros, and we cannot afford our office anymore since we are behind on rent...

I fear that one day I will wake up and find myself unable to feed and treat abandoned dogs and also save them from death."

5. Sally is not asking for money, but for kibble to keep the dogs from starving.

###

"When I was a child, I used to take care of the dogs in our neighbourhood. I always saw children hitting and harming them, so I decided that when I grow up, I'd protect all of the dogs in my country, do campaigns to teach children respect towards animals, and prevent the government from killing them.

Today, I am living this dream. My project “Hayat” is showing positive results: So far, we have sterilized, vaccinated, treated, and tagged over 2400 dogs, and we also educate children and change the population's attitude. It makes me happy to see people starting to accept the dogs without fear.

This is more than a mission for me, it is a part of my life. I can't live without protecting dogs and taking care of them, I was born to do this. Dogs are just like us, they have rights and they deserve to live with dignity and be treated with respect."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Sally will not receive any money but 3500 kg of kibble, delivered from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistics center in Morocco, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

7. Despite her efforts, Sally receives no governmental support, and other organisations cannot help either. This campaign is her last hope!

"The main problem is that we, just like other associations, don’t receive support from the government. They refuse to make an agreement with us to help save animals, instead of killing untagged dogs.

I contact associations and organizations all the time, but always without result. We do online fundraising, but we never collect sufficient amounts of donations, and that is especially the case now as many supporters have lost their jobs.

Feeding and taking care of a large number of dogs is not easy, and it always requires many resources and the necessary means to do that... but since the pandemic, support has been almost non-existent. That is why we need this campaign to succeed."

8. Actions launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

9. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies. It is very difficult to find funding for kibble, many dogs remain starving on the street!
