"The dogs at the shelter are not eating properly anymore. At the moment, I have bought kibble with my own money, and I am trying to save the kibble by reducing the portions and mixing it with bread. This causes fights, the weaker ones don't eat well because the stronger ones eat their food. I fear that my dogs will lose weight or catch diseases if this goes on too long...
Before the pandemic, thanks to the visitors who came to the shelter, I was collecting more than 55 bags of kibble per month. But since then, we have lost many of our donors! And as long as the shelter remains closed to visitors, we will not receive enough donations. I am saddened, the difficulty of finding kibble is a serious problem that worries me terribly. I hope this collection will succeed, it is our only hope!"
"There are always people who come to abandon their dogs at the shelter. People don't want to keep their dogs anymore because they can't afford to take care of them or simply because they have lost interest in the animal.
Since the beginning of the health crisis, the number of abandonments has been increasing! We end up with streets full of stray dogs who are often victims of abuse, neglect, and malnutrition... I do my best to rescue every dog in distress and suffering. Once I see a dog in distress, I just want to save it! But without kibble, my ability to do anything is becoming more and more limited..."
"Mimi was brought to the shelter by a friend 5 years ago after being abandoned by her owners. She is very quiet and a bit shy, so the other dogs eat her food all the time... As she is currently suffering from cancer, Mimi is very fragile, she can hardly walk, her steps are very heavy... Her health is so fragile that it could get worse if she doesn't eat properly, especially during the winter!"
"The main difficulty I face is the lack of means. When I say lack of means, I mean lack of food, lack of medicine... The last months of the year are the most difficult ones, it's the period when we have nothing left, no money, no medicines, no kibbles. We have to wait until the beginning of the following year to get the grant and the donations from the usual benefactors.
The problem is that since the pandemic, donations are decreasing. People can't give anymore because they are in crisis, they may prefer to save money because the future is unpredictable, especially since the virus is still there to threaten us.
Nowadays, my husband and I buy a few bags of kibble, but it's getting harder and harder for us to find the money... I can't handle it all by myself anymore, I need help!"
"I sacrificed 27 years of my life for the welfare of these animals, I sacrificed my money and all my energy for this shelter. I managed everything for many years with my own money! I have made this place a great place for animals!
Today I feel a great despair, I can't stand to see them in this state, they deserve a good life. I can't stop thinking about my dogs, I will be depressed that I can't help all the dogs in distress and I will try to fight for the dogs in the shelter and knock on every door to give them a better life! If tomorrow I ran out of kibble, it would be a disaster..."
Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Morocco which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.
"The government gives me an annual grant to treat the dogs for free, which is why the UMPA is recognised as a public utility. On the other hand, no foundation helps me to get kibble, and the few regular donors we had have practically stopped giving since the beginning of the pandemic.
Although I have contacted other associations and organised online fundraising for operations, neutering and care, this is far from enough to cover all our costs.... This campaign will allow us to keep going, I need this campaign to be able to offer my dogs good quality food. This is our only hope!"
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the collected products, the beneficiary receives nothing and the buyers get a refund.
