Animal Webaction visited the site 19 October 2021 and confirms the situation described below.
"The number of dogs under my care has risen and it's the same old tale : people don't neuter their dogs and abandon the puppies, or better yet, abandon the pregnant female... I find dogs on every road, there’s a lot of them everywhere.
I saved and rescued many dogs from this area but with now 80 dogs to care for and ever fewer donations, it's really difficult to provide. I've had to reduce the dogs' kibble portions for two weeks and I only have enough left for two days, I feel powerless, helpless... I can't do it alone.
The lack of food impacts my actions, both for the dogs at my shelter and the ones on the street that I can no longer rescue... I desperately need this campaign to succeed to keep the dogs safe with food, and warmth."
"The lack of food makes the dogs nervous and with the cold season just around the corner, it's only going to become worse. They will need food in quantity and quality in order to keep warm and remain calm.
Unfortunately, the only thing I have been able to buy lately is the cheapest type of kibble in small quantities, the dogs are more prone to getting diarrhea, they make lots of noise... If the lack of food persists, I am afraid they will fight each other.
Some of my dogs are sick and need to be operated on; they won't be able to survive fights, or survive the possibility of getting weaker with hunger...I believe I too will become sick with anger, grief and stress if I don't find a solution... Please help us!"
"Sweetpea is a 5-month-old female, she was abandoned in a field with her 6 siblings. They were only just babies then, 6 weeks old...
Sweetpea is calm, friendly and in a general state of tiredness, she is recovering from calcium deficit and a lung complication.
She needs enough good food in order to recover. If she were to get hungry, she could become sick or the other dogs could start attacking her. I can't let this happen!"
"I only have my teaching salary and small donations to run the shelter. Sometimes I get a donation of 10 euros, from time to time perhaps 40 euros...But my expenses in comparison, are sky-high. Vet treatments, operations, neuterings, food, construction material, straw...
My whole salary is invested here, but taking care of this many animals is overwhelming and my resources are too limited. I really wish more people would donate, I hope some animal lovers will see my plea and decide to help me, just like I help so many dogs.
Having this campaign succeed would keep my dogs well fed and help us stay in the clear for 2 months. It would be a tremendous help."
"I've always loved dogs and I consider them as being my own, helpless children. A human child can talk and say what hurts him, what he needs, but a dog can't. They are innocent souls and if you know how to behave with them, you’ll get so much more in return...They are sweet, wonderful creatures, I wish everybody could see that.
Unfortunately people here have misconceptions about dogs, they are deeply scared of them so naturally, they don't do anything to help people like me, they only call me to tell me to pick up more dogs...Life on the streets is a harsh one, dogs have no easy access to food, they are chased, abused...
In having this shelter, I believe I'm doing a good deed because I am saving many innocent lives. Of course, I would love to be able to take all the dogs from the area and find them a family but I can't do it alone...I need more resources and more support."
Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Romania, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.
"Unfortunately the people who are willing to help me are rare. The wide majority of people don't want to adopt, donate for food, or help in any way. Even a bag of kibble from time to time would be appreciated but it doesn't happen.
The last campaign on Animal Webaction helped us a lot and I truly hope we can make it work again. It would really mean the world, it would save my dogs from this period of uncertainty and would ensure they have their daily livelihood covered for 2 months or more. We need this."
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The organizer doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.
