Animal Webaction visited the site 21 October 2021 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Hanane will soon run out of kibble to feed the dozens of street dogs in her care. They will starve if no one does anything!

%%%

"The number of street dogs has increased lately: it happens every year at the same time, owners enjoy the animals during the vacations and get rid of them in the fall... This increase in abandonment implies an increase in expenses in terms of food, vaccination and sterilization!

My biggest fear is the lack of food, because I only have a few bags of kibble left to feed them all. I am really afraid that the lack of kibble will cause them diseases or that they will get injured during fights, or even worse, that they will die of hunger...

Today, my shelter is full, I can't help the street dogs anymore. I feel a great sadness for all these animals, I don't like to see them in this state, I try to do my best to ensure them a good life, but I can't help them alone... I really need this kibble campaign to succeed."

2. Diablo is so skinny that he might die if Hanane doesn't bring him kibble!

###

"Diablo was abandoned next door. Unfortunately, I can't take him in at the shelter because it's full and I don't have boxes to quarantine sick dogs. At the moment, there is an epidemic of scabies in the streets, and little Diablo has caught it... He has patches on his legs and tail.

He doesn't respond to the treatment I give him, and he is getting thinner by the minute... I'm really afraid for him, I'm afraid that his scabies patches will spread all over his body if he doesn't eat well, or that the patches will get infected. He has to eat well to heal, if he stays in this state the scabies could kill him!"

3. At Hanane's shelter, 180 dogs rescued from the street and from abandonment are also threatened by the lack of kibble.

%%%

"The situation at the shelter is catastrophic, the most fragile dogs in the shelter have been contaminated by mange, they have already lost a lot of weight.

I am really afraid for my dogs because I will soon have no more kibble to offer them: they will lose more weight, catch other diseases, the dogs will become aggressive and therefore the dominant ones will eat the food of the weakest.

If this campaign fails, I will be forced to release the dogs into the street, I will be depressed and torn up thinking that the dogs I released will be left to fend for themselves. This will clearly affect my mental and physical health..."

4. Belle has already lost a lot of weight, she will need kibble to fight the disease!

###

"Belle was born at the shelter. She recently came down with mange like other fragile dogs at the shelter.

She has become thin and has ringworm and scabies all over her body. Belle is at risk of developing more serious infections if she does not eat kibble, medication and care will not be enough! She needs to eat to heal..."

5. Donations and adoptions have been at their lowest for months, Hanane is struggling to keep her action afloat, but she can no longer buy kibble.

###

"My association is currently experiencing a financial crisis, I have to pay myself the majority of the expenses of the association through credits. The situation is very critical, the bank account of the association is at zero dirham. I really need donations, I can't go on without them...

Unfortunately, the donations are decreasing because of the Covid crisis. Even the few people who used to donate to us have stopped helping us because they too have been affected by the pandemic. On my side, I have to manage the shelter alone and it is a full time job.

I feel a great despair, I find myself facing the impossibility of financing kibbles from my pocket, especially with the great number of dogs that I welcome. I have so many expenses at the shelter that it tortures me just thinking about it..."

6. Hanane is not asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"I sacrifice my money, time and energy for the shelter, feeding street dogs and saving dogs in distress. I want to make it clear that my shelter receives no grants or government assistance, I have been fighting alone for my shelter and my dogs for over 10 years.

My shelter rescues abandoned and stray dogs in general, but also those who are locked up in pounds, I welcome them in my shelter and offer them the necessary care, I also look for an adoptive family who will give them tenderness and all the love they need. I also organize sterilization and vaccination campaigns for stray dogs.

Running out of kibble is my biggest fear: in the short term, I am afraid that the condition of the dogs will get worse or that I will lose some of them, I am also afraid that this campaign will fail, I hope with all my heart that it will succeed. In the long term, I am afraid of the future of the shelter, I am afraid that I will not be able to cope with all these problems, nor will I be able to save the dogs..."

7. If this campaign succeeds, Hanane will not receive any money but 2500 kg of kibbles, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Morocco which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles throughout the country.

8. Despite her efforts, Hanane does not receive enough support to meet the needs of abandoned dogs, she needs this campaign to feed the dogs.

"I am in the middle of a crisis, I knocked on all the doors to be able to save my refuge, I do not receive any subsidy. I have even reapplied to the prefecture but I have very little hope... The veterinarian I work with offers me sterilizations every Friday, two males or one female: it is not enough but it is better than nothing. He also gives me association prices for care in general, but I still have to finance it on credit!

I have some regular donors who send me small sums directly to the association's account, but no new donors. The association "Animaux en Péril" now sends me 450 dirhams per quarter, but it is not enough to buy kibble for all the dogs... I tried to contact international organizations but without result, nobody delivers kibbles in Morocco.

This campaign for kibble is my only hope, there is no one to help us buy it!"

9. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the collected products, the beneficiary receives nothing and the buyers get a refund.

10. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies. It is very difficult to find fundings for kibbles, many dogs remain starving in the streets !
