Animal Webaction visited the site 02 November 2021 and confirms the situation described below.
"I only have a week's worth of kibble left to feed my dogs, and I already have had to cut back on their daily rations for several days... The problem is that I have no way of buying more. I have already noticed the consequences: the dogs are weaker and they are becoming restless.
I am worried about the future of my dogs, I really need this campaign to succeed, because if the situation continues, the consequences will be catastrophic, my dogs will go hungry, their health problems will get worse...
My husband and I have tried to manage on our own, but in addition to the upkeep of the shelter, we have to pay for the medication of the sick dogs, we are in a situation where we can no longer afford to buy kibble, and this has been the case for several months now, we are reaching the end of our capacity..."
"The number of abandoned dogs has increased recently due to the pandemic and the economic crisis, many people can no longer care for them. I wish I could take care of them all, but I can't because I don't have enough kibble!
Unfortunately, this is a general problem, these animals are victims of human indifference, it is not their fault if they are abandoned in the street. People abandon animals and let them suffer from cold and hunger, and the poor survive as best they can!
The street dogs fend for themselves and sleep where they can, all I can do to help them is to bring them food. As I am the only one to feed them, they would go hungry and might even die if I were to stop coming for lack of kibble... Today, I barely have enough kibble for the dogs in my shelter, I can't feed the street dogs anymore!"
"I just took Bella into the shelter a few days ago, she had been abandoned on my doorstep by her owner. Bella is totally traumatised, she is afraid of the slightest noise, she has probably been beaten.
She is in a deplorable state, very weak and with a skin dermatitis. She is a sweet dog, she does not deserve this life. She needs to eat kibble for her treatment to work, and for her to survive life in the shelter..."
"Since the beginning of the pandemic, adoptions are becoming increasingly rare, the shelter is completly full, I can no longer save dogs from the street. We had food sponsorships in the past, but probably because of the pandemic, this is no longer the case.
I work with organisations like Remember Me France to promote animals for adoption, but staff salaries, electricity, water, maintenance, vet fees and kibble are only covered by my family. We all have full time jobs and use our own income, but it's not nearly enough to cover all the costs...
Unfortunately, donations have been decreasing lately and because of this I haven't received any money or kibble donations for a long time, and no charity can send kibble.... People are probably more afraid of the future in this complicated economic context, they don't think about helping us by donating. This kibble campaign is our last hope..."
"My love for animals is a legacy from my parents and grandparents. They are the ones who created the shelter, while feeding and caring for street dogs. So naturally I continued in this way. Everything I do, I do with my heart, and I have no greater satisfaction than when I succeed in saving a dog from misery by finding them a loving family.
Today, I'm afraid I can no longer manage the shelter alone! A simple woman like me, even with the help of her family, cannot save so many dogs and still have a normal personal life. I am fighting for my work to make a difference one day, I am proud to have managed to save hundreds of animals during all these years, to find adoptive families to give them a better life.
The dogs in my shelter are well cared for, they live in decent conditions, as much as possible in a shelter, I try to find families to adopt them, but unfortunately some of them are not adoptable, I saved them from all kinds of situations, they were traumatised and they are afraid of humans... Today, to continue my commitment to animals, I really need help!"
