1. In Romania, the 450 dogs at the Remember Me Land shelter are almost out of kibble. They will starve to death if no one intervenes!
"We depend on the town hall and on donations from individuals, which are far from sufficient to feed 450 dogs: we have no stock of kibble, we have even started to limit the amount of food we give to the dogs for several days now. Today, we don't have enough kibble for the coming week!
There are many dogs in danger in the streets, but due to lack of space and means we had to stop taking in new dogs for the last two weeks... We do our best to meet all the needs of the dogs but today it is not enough. The only donations we receive come from France, we have no support in Romania.
I am very worried because winter is coming and if we don't manage to find kibble quickly, the dogs will not survive on an empty stomach, they will fight or get sick, we really need this campaign to succeed!"
2. The dogs are losing weight already, fights have broken out and the weakest ones will not be able to overcome the lack of kibble.
"At the shelter, the dogs fight when they don't get enough to eat, because we can't afford to build more boxes to separate the vulnerable ones from the strong ones.
With the winter coming it will become more and more difficult for the dogs to survive. In the boxes, the weakest ones do not always eat, they become thinner and thinner, even if we try to take care of them as best as we can...
If we don't find kibble for this winter, the dogs' health will get worse, they will lose weight, get sick, fight... I couldn't bear to see them starve!"
3. Zazou has already lost weight and will not survive this winter without kibble.
"When Zazou was brought to the shelter by City Hall, she had a breast tumor. She underwent a major operation but fortunately she is on the road to recovery! Today, despite the improvement of her condition, she is still struggling to gain weight.
In order for Zazou to be completely cured, she must eat more. If this campaign fails she will continue to lose weight and I am afraid she will not survive the freezing Romanian winter..."
4. Insufficient subsidies and donations, increasing of abandonments... with 450 dogs in its care, the association doesn't have enough income to buy kibble!
"The number of stray dogs keeps increasing because they are not sterilized on the streets. So there are a lot of puppies, most of which grow up and end up in the shelter... We are constantly conducting sterilization campaigns to try to reduce the number of dogs on the streets but it takes a lot of time!
The problem is that we don't have any volunteers at the shelter, we have to pay the salaries of three guardians who work different hours, to make sure there is always someone there. We also have to pay the veterinary bills for spaying and neutering, the shelter bills, the food...
450 dogs have to be fed every day, the amount of food needed is huge, as we are a non-profit organization and we cannot afford to buy so much food... We need help to save them!"
5. Emilie is not asking for money, only kibble to keep the dogs from starving.
"When Vanessa, the president of Remember Me, arrived at the municipal pound, she immediately wanted to turn it into a shelter. The dogs were living in atrocious conditions! Since then, the dogs' lives have improved considerably and the association is doing its utmost to have the dogs adopted and to offer them the life they deserve with a loving family.
As a volunteer for the association, I look after the dogs and act as a link with the volunteers in France. Every dog that gets adopted is a real victory for us! I am proud of the work we do every day.
Today, there are too many dogs for us to handle alone. Maintaining the shelter and running the association is a full time job, we will continue to fight to make the dogs' lives better, but we need your help to keep feeding them!"
6. If this campaign succeeds, the Remember Me Land shelter shelter will not receive any money but 3000 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Romania.
