"The dogs that are taken in at the shelter have faced lack of food, cold, disease, abuse, and even poisoning on the street. Unfortunately, today, Jovica and I can no longer afford to feed them...
Winter is coming, the dogs need to eat more than usual to overcome the negative temperatures. For a month and a half we have been forced to ration the dogs, they have not eaten enough for too long. The kibble we are giving them today comes from a donation from an association, but we will run out in a week!
If we don't find kibble quickly, we will be forced to send some of the dogs back to the street... I am very scared for them, they are already very weakened by all that they have lived in the streets. Our two salaries are not enough to finance kibbles, we are alone, we are not helped by the city nor by anyone else. This campaign is our last hope..."
"Lack of kibble is our biggest concern: without food, the dogs can't survive! The lack of kibble is affecting their immunity. For the past month and a half, they have not been eating as much as they should, and we have unfortunately lost several of them...
When I rescued Pheonix from my house, she was in such a bad condition that I immediately took her under my wing. She was most probably mistreated by a human being... Fragile, stressed, very young, the lack of food deteriorated her condition and she unfortunately passed away three days ago.
The number of dogs in need has increased lately, I just found seven puppies, two of them did not survive because they were too young and too fragile... Today I can't save as many dogs in need as I would like because I don't have enough food for them.
Winter is the worst time of the year, it is a time when dogs need to eat more, the day is shorter, it is colder, they move less. That's why we need this kibble campaign to succeed, we don't want to see any more dogs die..."
"When Hudini was hit by a car, Jovica took care of him right away! Unfortunately, the accident was so violent that poor Hudini will be disabled for life. He wears diapers and we managed to find him a wheelchair so he can move around.
He is very friendly and cheerful despite his handicap! As disabled dogs need better quality food than healthy dogs, the lack of kibble would be fatal for him, he would have very little chance of surviving the winter..."
"With the pandemic, there was a lot of misinformation that dogs could transmit the virus to humans, many dogs were abandoned for this reason. At the same time, many people lost their jobs and can no longer offer help. So there are always more dogs with less and less donations.
The number of dogs on the streets is increasing, no matter how many dogs we rescue and sterilize, many people still abandon animals without sterilizing them. The situation is terrible, we would like to save them all but we don't have the means, we don't even have running water at the shelter!
Jovica and I are the only ones who take care of the dogs, feed them, clean them, take them to the vet, repair the damage in the shelter, prepare the papers for adoptions... Online fundraising doesn't work anymore, we are in debt, I have always funded the shelter with online donations and my own salary but today it's not enough, I need this campaign to succeed to save the dogs..."
"Since I was a child I have been rescuing animals with my grandfather. I continued to do so by creating the Spaske association to give street dogs a second chance. They need shelter, food, and love! Jovica then joined me and we are now fighting together.
I wonder if we will have food for the winter, I pray that the dogs don't get sick as many of them have just recovered from illness, and it would be truly tragic to have endured and won such a battle only to lose it due to lack of kibble.
With my full time job and running the shelter, all my time is dedicated to the dogs, but today I can't do it alone, I need your help to continue my fight and give these lost souls the life they deserve."
