Animal Webaction visited the site 04 December 2021 and confirms the situation described below.
"Since we started the shelter, December has always meant a lot of stress: the temperatures are dropping, we need kennels and blankets, dogs are freezing to death on the streets and need to be rescued, but we don't have enough kibble to feed all the dogs.
We can't afford to buy kibble because we have a lot of debts to the vet, we absolutely have to concrete the boxes in the shelter because the dogs are currently living in the mud, and we don't have any more space to take in more dogs... We could really use some help but no one is volunteering to help us, my wife Maria and I have to manage everything.
In a few days we won't have any kibble at all at the shelter. We are worried about the fragile dogs, the older ones and the younger ones: their health will get worse if they don't eat anymore! We are under constant stress because of the lack of food. We go to bed at night praying that someone will hear our cries for help and come to our rescue, we need this campaign to succeed!"
"The weather is tough at the moment, the boxes are full of mud because of the rain that keeps falling, and this makes the dogs very aggressive. The temperatures have also started to drop, this means that the dogs already need to eat more to keep their body temperature normal, as we don't have enough kennels and blankets for them to protect themselves from the weather!
As our stock of kibble is almost empty, we had to start rationing the dogs. Unfortunately, some of them, already very irritated by the mud, have started fights over a few kibbles. The dogs have to eat more, it's absolutely necessary so that they don't suffer from the cold, or kill themselves in the fights...
There are a lot of dogs who will have to spend the winter on the street and risk their lives, because we can't afford to feed so many dogs at the shelter. It is very hard to be in such a situation, we are obliged to leave the dogs outside to save those in the shelter... If this campaign succeeds we could put them in a shelter!
"We found Angelina in a sewage drain near a road. We immediately suspected that she had been hit by a car because she was in such a terrible state... We immediately took her to the vet who told us that she had a fractured spine: she will be paralysed for life.
She is still very frail and is having trouble getting used to the fact that she can no longer use her back legs. As she is still young, she needs proper nutrition to continue to grow normally, and to find the strength to learn to move around with her new wheeled cart. She needs to eat kibble every day!"
"Some people donate when they can afford it, but since the pandemic, this is increasingly rare. The town hall also helps us sometimes, it promised us gravel to concrete a part of the shelter. Even if this will only solve half of the problem, it's already a big step forward for us.
The problem is much bigger than us: the number of dogs in the shelter and those who need our help is too big for two people to handle alone. We would like to find an employee, volunteers, anyone who can help us, but nobody is interested...
We still have a lot of debts at the vet's, so every little bit of help goes a long way. We need to spread the word about the shelter, we need people's support to be able to continue to offer these dogs the chance of a better life. But we can't do it alone..."
"We opened the shelter because we consider animals to be our family, and we saw the lack of care and public interest in them. They deserve a better life, and it fills our hearts with joy when we see dogs we have rescued being adopted by loving families!
We have sacrificed everything for them: our free time, our social lives, our livelihood. We spend all our time at the shelter, we don't go on holiday, we don't travel, we don't go out to restaurants. We spend all our time saving them.
We try to stay positive and optimistic, and we hope that people in our town will get more involved. Sometimes we feel overwhelmed and helpless, we pray for help and a more positive future. We are very worried when we find ourselves in a situation where we cannot provide for them. Today we really need your help..."

"We used to go twice a week to supermarket car parks to collect food and money, but since the pandemic this has not worked. Fortunately, the associations Only for Them and Ruff Start support us as much as they can: they send us blankets, a few bags of kibble, medicines... Their generosity means a lot to us, but unfortunately it is far from enough to feed 383 dogs daily.
We hope that this campaign will be a success, we hope that our collaborations with these two associations will bring us more visibility online and that it will serve as a starting point to make the shelter known. This kibble campaign is our last hope..."
