Animal Webaction visited the site 16 January 2022 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Bosnia, Ina is running out of kibble to feed the 470 dogs in her shelter, they will starve to death if no one helps them!

%%%

"There are 470 dogs at our shelter currently and their number is growing very rapidly; there are always more dogs to rescue from the freezing streets and more dogs to save from the local pound... Our kibble needs increase as we rescue dogs. The amount of kibble we used to need for a whole week is now barely enough for one day!

Unfortunately, our donations are very irregular and they have drastically dropped in January. It seems as though people's budgets were drained up in December and procuring food is becoming increasingly difficult. Our lack of funds prevents us from buying quality kibble in sufficient quantities.

Right now we only have enough for 3 more days, I am really stressed out and scared... My dogs need kibble to remain healthy and happy, especially in winter... We cannot take the risk to start cutting down their portions; they are fragile and wouldn't be able to stand it."

2. Ina's shelter is the only hope for the countless dogs trapped and abused at the pound. Without kibble to get them out, she knows they are doomed!

###

"Strays who are caught and brought to the local pound live in very awful conditions; they don't even have the most basic things: housing, food, or water... and if after a short while no one comes for them, they are euthanised straight away, or end up killing one another out of hunger...

My ultimate goal is to have this place closed for good but until I can do so, I need to continue saving these dogs' lives, I simply cannot stand there with my arms crossed, knowing they will suffer a horrible death.

These dogs really exhibit the signs of their recent abuse... They are starved, sick, traumatised and exhausted. We give our best to provide them with the best conditions we can, but if we can't find a new stock of kibble, we won't be able to save more of them... We simply couldn't bear this situation."

3. Recently rescued from the local pound where she was starved, Twigs is still very weak... She needs kibble to survive and hope to recover!

###

“Twigs is 4 years old, we rescued her from the local pound a couple of weeks ago. She had severe pancreatitis caused by starvation and had to be hospitalized at the vet for 15 days...

She hardly survived and she remains very skinny, she really needs qualitative and regular meals to be able to recover; she won't be able to withstand another food deprivation... Getting this kibble is vital for her."

4. With the pandemic, donations are down while the price of kibble has gone up. Ina can no longer buy kibble for all her dogs!

###

“Ever since the pandemic, prices for dog food, raw materials... everything has gone up. It is impossible to collect enough money for all our needs, the first one being food! Especially when there are other daily expenses we need to cover – fuel, straw, vet care etc.

Most of the local people give us words of support, but that is where it stops, the majority of people are either not able to help financially or not willing to; we rarely get help in funds, food or manpower. We devote a lot of time and effort to the shelter but we have limited resources and lack official support. We really need this campaign to work!"

5. Ina is not asking for money, only kibble to keep her dogs from starving.

###

"I devoted the past 9 years of my life to dogs and their welfare. The association's main goal is to take dogs out from the streets, save their lives, lead by example and educate the locals on how to treat their own dogs, teach them about sterilization etc.

At the moment, we can freely say that 70% of owned dogs live in precarious conditions, completely neglected and with and lacking the most basic necessities (proper food, water, proper housing, ability to walk freely, vet care, etc.).

We hope that the authorities will start implementing the existing legislation on animal welfare so animal owners can held accountable for their own misdeeds and offences. Because even if it didn’t change their perspective on animals, they would at least be aware that there would be sanctions such as fines and imprisonment in case of animal abuse."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Ina will not receive any money but 2400 kg of kibbles, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistic platform in Bosnia.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Bosnia which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Ina tries to seek help by all means but her supporters have already done their best. She needs this campaign to feed her dogs!

“We make posts on our social media to raise funds but we mostly receive donations if a particular dog’s life or health is in danger and if they need urgent surgery. Whenever we ask to collect food or money for food, we don’t raise much interest and don't get much donations.

Thankfully we are being helped by another organisation with adoptions and vet bills but they are a small organization and cannot help us with all our needs. We are constantly stressed and worried, we really hope this campaign will work so our dogs can have food during the coming weeks."

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

9. In Bosnia, stray dogs are tortured and killed illegally without anyone looking…
