Animal Webaction visited the site 27 January 2022 and confirms the situation described below.
"Lately the number of dogs in my shelter has increased, due to the growing numbers of abandonment. Dogs are often thrown in bags over the fence of my shelter or left right in front of my door...
We have more dogs and procuring food has become a huge issue: we have less and less sponsors and donations; everything has been getting worse since the pandemic. We managed until now by increasing our debt to the food supplier but they now refuse to serve us until we pay off what we owe them...
Right now we have food for about 2-3 days and no money to buy some afterwards, we've reached a point of no return. I feel very bad for not being able to buy food for my dogs, I feel like the most despicable human being... If this campaign doesn't succeed, my soul will be devastated."
"The lack of sterilization in our area is a big issue. A lot of locals come to me complaining: “my dog gave birth and I don’t know what to do with the puppies”. But nobody spays their dogs, even when we offer free sterilization....
The number of strays is out of control and people don't help them in any way; instead, they chase them away and beat them. If I don't rescue them, many dogs on the streets would end up being killed. Unfortunately, the current lack of space, food and ressources is preventing me from taking more dogs in.
I wish I could help them more and bring more dogs to my shelter but this is simply impossible at the moment, I feel very bad and guilty. Every dog should be able to have a roof over their head and decent living conditions. If I want to continue giving these dogs a second chance at life, I need to be able to feed them all and it all comes down to the success of this campaign at this stage..."
"Someone called me to inform me they saw a dog running in the city, full of blood. I went there and found her in the middle of the street, I jumped in front of a semi-trailer to save her.
Nororica had sticker tumor (canine transmissible venereal tumor) and then genital prolapse. After cytostatics and chemotherapy her tumor unfortunately came back, it exploded in her lower back. We continued her treatment, and she is now in remission.
Norocica is a very gentle and playful dog, we hope she can be healthy forever. If we can no longer give her kibble we are afraid that her immunity will weaken and that her cancer might come back..."
"We use Facebook to raise donations, we have a very small number of loyal people that donate 5-10 euros but it is unfortunately not enough. My husband also helps with his own income, we live with the bare minimum to take care of the dogs, but that still doesn't suffice...
We don't have enough help or enough money since the pandemic. We maxed out our debt to the food supplier and now they won't allow us to take any more food on credit... We can’t afford to buy kibble to feed our dogs and this fact alone is honestly devastating.
We receive the help of 2 foreign associations, but they cannot help as much or as frequently as before when it comes to food. If someone could help us provide food for the dogs for at least a month, we could manage the rest. I really hope this campaign will help us achieve that!"
"The locals are acting hateful towards me: I’m called the "crazy lady with the dogs", the "crazy lady who gathers dogs"... I am marginalized because of this but I don't care because these dogs are my soul. I can’t live without them, and I treat them the same as I would my child.
I put all efforts to ensure my dogs are living in good conditions, even if the shelter is far from perfect; it is my biggest accomplishment. I also know that my actions have a big positive impact on the community because I help reducing the number of street dogs by sterilizing them and rescuing them.
I just wish there were more adoptions, because I have beautiful dogs and puppies and they all deserve to have better living conditions, to live indoors, have heating and be loved by someone else besides us."
Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Romania which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.
"We receive help from 2 associations, they help us with donations, kibble, blankets... but neither of them can help us as regularly as needed or as much as needed because they are already helping other shelters and have their hands full. We have a few faithful private supporters who help us, but they cannot help all the time either, and never with big amounts.
We tried contacting other fondations and organisations but we always get the same answer “we can’t, we are sorry, we have too many requests, there are a lot of dogs everywhere in Romania and we are already helping a lot. We will call you back.” And they don’t call us back...
We tried everything: online fundraising on charities websites, on Facebook, our attempts are unsuccessful. We are broke and in too much debt... This campaign would be a life saver for our dogs."
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.
