"Feeding 136 street cats is not an easy task, and requires a lot of time and money. Unfortunately, we do not receive any subsidies (although our association is recognised as being of public utility).
Our already difficult situation has recently become even worse: a rainwater pipe broke, flooding our storage room. We lost blankets and the few stocks of kibble we had left! The insurance company and the landlord are passing the quid and refusing to compensate us...
Until now, we got into debt with our relatives to continue feeding the cats. This can't go on! Without food, the poor cats will get sick... Very weakened, some may die of hunger!"
"Leïla is a free cat in very bad shape. The poor thing is infested with worms, which drain all her energy. We are trying to worm her, but she is very shy, which makes it difficult.
She also has ulcers on her eyes, which are probably a sign of a coryza infection. Weakened by all this, Leïla no longer has the strength to groom herself sufficiently. Knots were accumulating on her coat, so much so that she had to be shaved on her back.
Without kibble to keep her going, Leïla risks to continue losing her strength. In her condition, we fear she will starve if we can't help her!"
"Between spaying and neutering, vaccinations and caring for sick cats, we have huge veterinary costs. It's getting harder and harder to pay the bills...
With covid, donations have dropped a lot, as people are in financial difficulties. Many fundraisings and events have had to be cancelled, which is a real loss of income for the association. To compensate, we are taking a lot of money from our personal funds, without seeing the end of it...
We are finding it increasingly difficult to keep our heads above water. We have had to put our actions on hold and stop new care. But without care and without food, the cats will get worse and worse... The situation will only get worse! It is now that we must intervene."
"At the beginning, I took care of cats in need in my spare time. Six months ago, I decided to get involved in the association, to socialise those who can be socialised and get them adopted. I also continue to feed and care for the free cats.
It's a lot of work every day, but this is essential. Without us, the cats would have no one to rely on. It's unthinkable to leave them without food, especially in the middle of winter!"
