"Despite my efforts to sterilize as many strays as possible, the number of abandoned dogs never seems to get any lower, it only increases... I have more and more dogs at the shelter and because our adoption rate has declined, many dogs are staying here longer than they should.
Feeding my dogs is my top priority but recent events have made this daily battle even harder. Since the war in Ukraine broke out, I get less donations and the prices of basic necessities such as kibble have hit an all-time high.
Right now I have enough kibble for only a few days... my stress level is through the roof because with my small income, I cannot provide food for the whole shelter. I always try my hardest to create the best environment for my dogs, they live in kennels, I walk them as often as possible... but all my efforts are useless if I don't have kibble to feed them..."
”The recent pet food inflation has left me with no choice but to ration the portions I give the dogs, in an attempt to make the little kibble I have left last longer... Some dogs have already lost weight, others have developed digestion issues; I can't hide that I am afraid of what the future will bring…
I don’t want to imagine my dogs starving, I am so stressed when I think about that situation that I think I might get sick! The lack of kibble impacting the dogs at the shelter, but it's also preventing me from rescuing dogs from the streets and regional pounds. How can I bring more dogs here when it's already difficult for me to feed the ones that are here?
I wish I could do more but without kibble, it gets harder and harder to continue helping the dogs. This campaign is vital for the dogs at the shelter to remain healthy, and for the ones on the outside who still need to be saved."
"Tommy is a 4-year-old dog, we found him in the streets after he had been hit by a car. The accident left him crippled and unfortunately, it's too early to say if he'll ever be able to walk again. At the moment, his hind leg mobility is reduced, he can't walk properly.
I am going to do everything that's in my power to eventually get him adopted into a nice family but in the meantime, Tommy is entirely reliant on me to survive. He cannot feed himself without me and without kibble, his health will be at great risk."
“Prices have exploded with Covid and now the war...It is becoming excruciately difficult to cover even the dogs' most basic necessities such as food, vitamins, vet costs... Because of the financial insecurity that everybody around the world is experiencing, we receive fewer donations accross the board, food donations and money donations alike.
More often than not, my husband and I have to use our incomes to try and cover the shelter's expenses but our wages are small and even combined, they can barely ensure our living. I have debts at the vet but I don't even have the funds to repay them...We really need all the help we can get to feed our dogs!"
"I have loved animals my entire life. In 2013, I decided to set up a charity and a shelter when a law to kill street dogs was implemented in Romania. For me, helping a dog in need is simply showing some humanity...
I am proud to have created this shelter because I know I succeeded in improving the lives of many dogs and I hope it will continue to be this way for a long time. Over the years and through our work, we managed to accomplish a big difference in reducing the number of strays in the streets. The problem is our actions are limited due to our lack of funds...
My husband and I are the only ones taking care of the dogs on a daily basis, we do not have any employees. We have only one volunteer who usually comes for a few hours at the weekends. We are extremely thankful for anybody willing to help us, and we want to take this opportunity to thank you for everything you do help shelters in need like ours."
Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Romania which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.
“I try to conduct online fundraisings, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but either way, it is rarely enough... Even the partner organisations that help us with donations of food, meds and toys can no longer do it as often mainly because of the war and the repercussions it's having on their own activity. I really need this campaign to succeed so I can have enough food for the dogs and end this period of high uncertainty and stress."
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.
