Animal Webaction visited the site 27 April 2022 and confirms the situation described below.
"With the war in Ukraine, people don't focus on helping pets anymore. Our donations have dropped a lot, in fact, they are closer to none than they've ever been! Buying kibble for our dogs is our biggest challenge currently, prices have increased accross the board but the number of dogs under our care is only ever increasing... It has doubled in the last few years!
The consequences are drastic because we need more and more kibble but we no longer have any money in the association's account to buy it. We are honestly going through one of the hardest times we have ever experienced.
We have been rationing the dogs' portions for some time in order to prolong the little bit of kibble we had left, but today we are officially out of kibble and all our attempts to get some have been unsuccessful... We will only be able to breathe when this campaign is over, and hopefully successful. We need lots of votes, clicks, shares... From the bottom of our hearts, please consider helping us!"
"We have been rationing the dogs' portions for a few weeks and today, we have nothing left. They haven't eaten since yesterday... Some dogs have lost weight and they have become overall more aggressive. With our stocks having now completely dried out, we can honestly only expect the worst to come...
If no solution is found, the dogs will face diseases, starvation, they will fight each other and get injured, or worse... Dogs on the streets who need our help will in turn suffer greatly because we can no longer bring them in... The lack of food only leads to a chain of heartwrenching consequences... I cannot stress enough how important the success of this campaign truly is."
"Aisha is a 2-year-old female. She was living as a stray and ended up being hit by a car, the accident left her with a pelvic fracture; we rescued her and brought her to the shelter a week ago. She has since then undergone surgery, she is still under postoperative treatment today. She is getting better little by little but in order to make a full recovery and not sustain any potential after-effects, she needs quality kibble, love and care!"
"One single dog that enters our shelter represents huge expenses until they achieve a full recovery and are ready for adoption. Of course, that's not even counting the dogs who end up staying with us forever because they are disabled or have other special needs...
The continuous flow of dogs in distress joining the shelter generates huge veterinary expenses and debts for us. But the food remains undoubtedly our biggest issue and the most difficult one to fundraise for. We need around 300 kilos of kibble every day to feed all our dogs. It's simply huge and requires funds we do not manage to obtain in these challenging times!
We'd like to take this opportunity to ask as many people as possible to join us in our campaign and give us a chance to gather kibble for our dogs. We won't make it without your help!"
"My husband and I have started the shelter 6 years ago. We rescue dogs from the streets and take care of them in many ways: daily care, transport to the vet and all other actions to provide the most decent life possible for them. We also try our best to get them adopted.
Over the years and through several discussions with the municipality, we managed to launch free sterilization, chipping and vaccination campaigns for the population. That was a big step for us! Unfortunately, people are still stubborn and irresponsible on this subject. They do not want to neuter their dogs and as a result more and more are abandoned...
Owners who abandon their pets are never prosecuted, the police don't even bother to solve problems related to abandoned dogs. Our different attempts to report a dog that was abandoned were all unsuccessful...We really hope that we will live to see a day when more and more people will understand the benefits of dog sterilization. That's the only effective way to reduce the number of dogs abandoned on the streets."
Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Romania which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.
"Our attempts to gather kibble at the local supermarkets aren't as successful as before. We still go and hope for the best every time but we barely come back with anything now... Because of the global crisis, even the foreign associations that we collaborate with cannot help us as much as they'd like. They can only manage to send us 2 pallets of kibble every couple of months; enough to last 4-6 days. Of course we're tremendously thankful for this support but unfortunately with this many dogs to feed, it is not enough.
Overall I think our association is not that famous and that’s why our donations are very few. Everyday we struggle to procure food, and at this moment, you truly are the only ones that can help us gather enough quantities to feed our dogs.
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.
