Animal Webaction visited the site 28 April 2022 and confirms the situation described below.
"In the streets of the Casablanca region, the situation is catastrophic! As I don't have enough space at my shelter, I am in charge of feeding over 250 stray dogs... Their number has tripled, people do not sterilise their dogs and then abandon them without realising the consequences: left to their own devices, they die of hunger, are hit by cars, live in insecurity, are exposed to all sorts of diseases and infections, eat rubbish, and suffer abuse and violence...
At the moment I have 10 kg of kibble left to feed all these dogs. Because of the poor quality of the kibble I am currently feeding them, the dogs have less and less energy, they suffer from diarrhoea, have kidney infections, and end up with blood in their urine. Unfortunately, I can't buy better quality kibble since donations have dropped drastically and prices have increased... So at the moment I only feed them once a day, and that's not enough!
If I don't get support from Animal Webaction, nobody else will help me. I'm afraid for the street dogs, especially the fragile ones, they can't stand this low-nutrient diet, they'll end up starving to death! If I don't find a solution soon it will break my heart... This campaign is my only hope to be able to feed the stray dogs and save their lives."
"Sushi is a 2 year old street dog who has been suffering from acute diarrhea for over 7 days. He has become frail and very tired since he is not eating enough, it is vital for him to eat well! The problem is that he is very fearful and runs away as soon as he sees a stranger approaching him, so if I don't have some kibble to attract him to me, I won't be able to catch him and take him to the vet to be treated... His condition will get worse if I don't take him in, I absolutely have to keep taking care of him, and without kibble it will be impossible!"
"When I welcome dogs to the shelter, I am sure that they are safe, fed and respected: no more problems of mistreatment or risk of poisoning! I take them to the vet in case of infections or illnesses, I personally take care of all these expensive treatments, and I do my best to find them families to adopt them. I try to give them enough kibble but with the small amount left it becomes very complicated to feed them all.
I need people's support to keep going, but donations are always down, and I don't have enough money to fund the shelter whether it's for food, transport, medication or vet care. I feel a constant stress, I'm worried and I think all the time about the future of all these dogs... If I don't find some kibble soon, it will be a disaster. This campaign must succeed, it is imperative, it is the only solution..."
"At only two years old, Luna suffers from a very serious venereal tumour which makes her very weak, and puts her in a general state of severe fatigue... She is currently undergoing chemotherapy but needs surgery to get rid of this horrible disease. Unfortunately, she is so skinny that this surgery could kill her! The vet has made it clear that we can't risk a surgery until she gains weight... So Luna needs plenty of quality food because without it, her condition will get worse, and the disease will take her away..."
"At the moment, I finance the shelter with my own salary because people don't donate anymore since the pandemic... It has become worse since the beginning of the conflicts in Ukraine because everything has become three times more expensive! I am afraid that this crisis will not last, not receiving any more donations and seeing the prices increase in this way is dangerous for the life of my dogs and the future of my association's actions...
The other problem I have is that I have many debts with the vet, I am not able to pay them so I hope he will continue to accept to treat my dogs on credit... On top of this, the price of petrol has risen by more than 50% in Morocco recently, which has a huge impact on taking on new dogs in need: the problems are piling up, and there are no solutions.
I receive little help but I hope that the situation will change and that Moroccans will start to help my association, it is important for me to continue my actions! I hope with all my heart that this campaign will succeed..."
"I can't just walk past a living being in need and ignore it. I have helped many dogs so far and I plan to help many more in the future. The mission of my association is to prevent cruelty and abuse of dogs, we have won several court cases recently! We also try to reduce the spread of diseases such as rabies by sterilising and vaccinating stray dogs, which are then better accepted by the population. We also put dogs up for adoption by finding them families to take care of them.
The association has two volunteers and three employees. My role is to finance the actions of our association and to take care of all the administrative part. My association works to ensure that the dogs we take into care on the streets are all given fleas to prevent them from being put down. We raise awareness among children in schools and we organise open days at the shelter on a regular basis.
Taking in a sick dog and seeing it improve little by little is an incredible feeling, I really feel we are making a difference! Without help and collaboration we can't achieve anything, our efforts alone can't do much, we need to feel people's support and encouragement."
Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Morocco, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.
"Despite my lack of resources, I do my best to help street dogs, for example, when I am unable to pay the vet's fees, I post his story on social media in the hope that a good soul will hear my plea for help... There is no way I would let a dog in distress suffer in the street!
I have contacted organisations in Switzerland, France and the USA, but so far my efforts have not paid off... I recently launched an online fundraiser a month ago but it's not taking off, people can't afford it, they don't donate anymore... I'm at a dead end, I don't have enough money to fund the shelter anymore, I need people's support to be able to continue saving the dogs!"
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.
