1. In Morocco, Elise is running out of kibble for the 171 dogs in the UMPA shelter. They will starve if no one helps them!

%%%

"We have received about 20 dogs at the shelter since the beginning of the year, in addition to 5 dogs that were recently abandoned at the vet's because their owners could no longer afford to care for them... It's so sad! People no longer care about their pets, they can easily abandon them without mercy. An increase in the number of abandoned dogs means a lot of extra costs, extra stress to provide them with a good environment, food, care...

In addition, it is scabies season at the shelter, a good number of dogs have caught it and as they have not eaten enough for a month, they have already started to lose weight and become weak, hence the proliferation of scabies... The other problem that arises from the fact that the dogs are hungry is that the dominant ones eat the food of the weaker ones! As I only have a few days of kibble left, I will soon be forced to feed them bread and rice: a dangerous diet for them because of the lack of nutrients, but which also risks making them more anxious, and therefore even more aggressive...

As the price of kibble has increased since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, donations are falling and even our sponsorship systems are no longer working, I can't afford to buy kibble anymore! I am in a dark mood, I think all the time about the fate of the shelter and my dogs if I don't find kibble for them. This campaign is my only hope in the face of rising kibble prices, I can't buy kibble at this price!"

2. The price of raw materials has skyrocketed since the start of the war in Ukraine: Elise can no longer buy kibble, and has already had to start refusing rescues...

###

"The inhabitants of the surrounding villages complain or call the pound to come and catch or kill the street dogs... They also expect my association and my team to take care of all the street dogs, but they don't help us pay the costs. Casablanca now has more than 200,000 stray dogs, it breaks my heart but I can't save them all, especially knowing that I can't even afford to feed the ones I already take care of at the shelter...

Money and food are my biggest concerns: they are the factors that play a big role in the running of the shelter without money and kibble my shelter will not be able to continue to exist. The dogs will die of hunger or disease if left to their own devices on the street... Because of the lack of kibble, I will be obliged to take in only the most serious cases, I will treat them on credit and prepare rice for them, a solution which unfortunately will not allow them to recover from their traumas... This campaign is my last hope!"

3. Without kibble, Bibou has no chance of recovering from his accident!

###

"Bibou probably had a serious accident when he was living on the street as he lost the use of both his back legs, he will remain paralysed for life, despite the surgeries we have offered him. We bought him a trolley so that he can move around, but he is still very dependent on us to survive: a shortage of kibble would be fatal for him!"

4. Elise is going through a dark period: a drop in adoptions, almost non-existent donations and mounting debts... This kibble campaign is the only option she has to feed her dogs!

###

"I finance all the actions of my association with my own money, my husband also helps me by making donations to the shelter. Unfortunately, the online fundraising system doesn't work anymore and the donations are always decreasing... I used to have a partnership with a kibble company that always gave me discounts, but since the war in Ukraine and the price increase, they stopped helping me... The kibble has become too expensive, I can't buy more without help!

Between the care for the most fragile dogs, the medicines and all the other expenses involved in running a shelter, I could hardly get by on my salary but the price rise has turned everything upside down... I still have unpaid vet bills, but I can't do it alone, I really need help..."

5. Elise is not asking to receive any money, only kibbles to keep the dogs from starving.

###

"I have been working in this shelter for 25 years, there have been thousands of animals that have passed through the shelter and thousands of animal care cases of needy people. I am saddened to see what these dogs are going through on the streets. I hope with all my heart that people will change their behaviour and start treating these strays well...

I am afraid that this crisis will last too long, I hope that my shelter can overcome this. I hope that I can continue to give care to the needy dogs and rescue the dogs in distress who are living hell on the streets of Casablanca. The problem is that without kibble all this will disappear, and if I don't give free care to the dogs of the poor, these are the dogs I will find abandoned in the street or tied up at the door of my shelter, in atrocious states of health...

The visits we organise at the shelter raise awareness, children are beginning to realise the importance of treating an animal well. More and more associations are being created and it's great, it's not just us who have to deal with this. People are getting more and more involved in animal protection, we must encourage them!"

6. If this campaign succeeds, Elise will not receive any money but 2500 kg of kibbles, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Morocco.

Liste des récoltes échouées

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the collected products, the beneficiary receives nothing and the buyers get a refund.

8. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies . It is very difficult to find funding for kibbles, many dogs remain starving in the street!
