Animal Webaction visited the site 21 May 2022 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Sally is running out of kibble to feed the 450 dogs in her shelter - they are in danger of starving!

%%%

"We have over 450 dogs at the sanctuary, we take in disabled dogs and those who need medical treatment that they would not be able to receive if they were living on the streets. Our emergency phone number never stops ringing, dogs in need come in from all over... The increase in the number of dogs in danger means an increase in costs: they need a special diet, intensive medical care, rehabilitation... There is also a lot of work to be done at the sanctuary: the pens need to be repaired, we need more shade, and we spend a lot of money on running water.

It's getting harder and harder to feed all these dogs: I'm so far in debt to the kibble supplier that I can't get any more until I start paying off some of the bills... With the heat coming on, the dogs won't be able to survive on an empty stomach! I only have two days worth of kibble left, after that I'll manage to find first prices here and there, with my own money, but it won't last long...

I am desperate, if this harvest fails the dogs will get sick or starve. I really need help to save them, this campaign is our last hope to keep the dogs alive this summer..."

2. Very weakened by his sad past, Gommy will not survive without kibble.

###

"Gommy arrived at the shelter just 3 weeks ago. He has a serious eye injury, but the vet can't find the cause... The wound is so deep that I have to keep him at the shelter, provide him with care, water and kibble to give him a chance to heal. Unfortunately, the more time goes by, the more difficult it is for me to find kibble: without it, he has no chance to recover..."

3. More than 3,000 stray dogs depend on Sally's help for food: they are in danger if this kibble campaign fails!

%%%

"We look after over 3000 dogs on the streets! I can't take them all in at the sanctuary, there are far too many and I wouldn't have the means to support them... Especially since, due to the COVID pandemic and the war in Ukraine, many of the association's supporters are having financial difficulties and have had to stop helping us, so we have less and less money!

With increasing costs and decreasing donations, we simply cannot provide kibble to the strays... Since the beginning of the pandemic we started rationing them, and recently we have no kibble for them at all, we bring them some leftovers and they have to rummage in the bins and eat rubbish... This is no life for them! We just don't know how to cope anymore. We need this campaign to succeed so that they don't starve to death on the streets, or end up being poisoned... "

4. With donations falling and prices soaring as a result of the war in Ukraine, Sally is financially overwhelmed and can no longer buy kibble.

###

"The association has still not recovered from the pandemic during which many of our generous donors had to stop helping us. Today, because of the war in Ukraine, many people still have financial difficulties, both in Morocco and abroad... We are more and more alone!

Because of the war, prices have gone up and everything has become more difficult to get, even the logistics. As we owe a fortune to the kibble supplier and our vet but cannot pay them, we have reached the point of no return: we will not be able to feed the dogs without help!"

5. Sally isn't asking for money, only kibble to keep the dogs from starving.

###

"We work day and night to save animals in need. I am proud of how far we have come, but there is still a lot to do to make the lives of stray dogs better. The slaughter of unmarked stray dogs must stop, we have protected over 3,000 dogs from this horrific death! Without the SFT, these dogs would die on the streets!

I hope that one day there will be no more abandoned dogs. That's why we educate the community to make people understand that dogs should be treated like a family, like a child. You have to be prepared to take care of that dog for the rest of its life if you decide to adopt it... It's a huge responsibility and people need to be aware of that."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Sally will not receive any money but 3000 kg of kibble, delivered from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistics center in Morocco, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

7. Sally's pleas for help don't work, this kibble campaign is her only hope to feed the abandoned dogs.

"None of our appeals for help are working, although I have tried to contact many international organisations, but they are completely overworked... So we are organising visits to the shelter to raise awareness of animal misery, and to reach more people who could become potential volunteers, and maybe get more donations.

We need to spread the word and make everyone understand that the Hayat Project is the only solution to end slaughter in Morocco, eradicate rabies, reduce the huge amount of stray animals and educate the community about animal welfare. I don't despair, I will keep fighting for them!"

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies. It is very difficult to find funding for kibble, many dogs remain starving on the street!
