"I take care of more than 80 street dogs in the suburbs of Constanta, next to the Danube, the Black Sea, the Canal. In summer, the area gets crowded with tourists and sadly, many of them bring their pets along only to abandon them here... I know this is hard to imagine, but I face this problem each year.
I am already almost out of kibble and I really don't know how I will be able to feed all the dogs if their number increases even more... The price of kibble and fuel has increased considerably, I use my own salary but it is far from being enough to feed more than 80 souls. For more than a month I have been forced to reduce the portions...
The dogs are hungry and I'm desperate...it's even keeping me up at night. I need help to continue because these dogs need to be fed no matter what! No matter the circumstances, the weather or the time of year. This campaign is my only hope at this stage, every contribution counts!"
"I don’t know a place in Romania worse than Constanta for strays... What happens in the area is a tragedy. Most people are too ignorant to care about the reproductive health of their pets so they allow their animals to breed and then just get rid of the “problem”, sentencing thousands of puppies to death each season...
The streets are full of strays and if I can’t provide these dogs with kibble, a lot of them will probably die in a matter of days. I know that the kibble I give them currently is not enough, so they are hungry and try to get more food by themselves. They live in areas with heavy traffic and if they start crossing the street in search of food, they have a high risk of getting hit by cars. I am so afraid for them...
Some business owners in the area have also threatened to call the dog catchers, if stray dogs continue to approach their premises... I have been living in constant stress and anxiety for the past month. It is very difficult for me to get used to this feeling of despair and complete lack of hope. The situation was never easy, but right now it is desperate!"
"Bella is a 1-year-old female, she was abandoned a few weeks ago in front of a restaurant on a busy road. A security agent told me that she was thrown away from a moving car in a tied bag. The bag ended up on the road. The agent saw the bag moving, so he took it and opened it. Bella was so scared that she ran away...
Bella is very skinny and is very afraid of humans, I think she was neglected by her former owner. So far I have not been able to touch her, but I find her in the same place every day, near the restaurant. The owner of the restaurant has made it clear that he doesn't want her near his establishment, we have already argued about this... If I feed her, everything will be fine, but if I can no longer do it, I don't even dare to imagine what will happen to her. I'm really afraid she'll cross the road in search of food and get hit by a car..."
"Given the fact that we just went through a pandemic that left its marks on everybody’s finances and that a war started on our border, right now it is harder than ever to find the resources I need for my dogs. People have to face their own problems and take care of their families and it seems that no one has anything left for strays.
My personal income is low, I can barely cover my own expenses. Financing kibble for over 80 dogs is definitely not something I can do on my own! Besides that, I also have to buy medicine and I owe some money to the vet. He is very understanding and knows what I’m going through, but a debt is a debt...
To make matters worse, I have healthy dogs that have their passports and are ready to be sent to their new families in the UK, but the authorities do not allow the transfer due to the current ban on Romanian dogs entering the country... Problems are accumulating and I really need some more support to continue being able to care of the many dogs under my care!"
"I am the only person helping the stray dogs in this area. I wake up one or two hours earlier in the morning and travel a few kilometers in the suburbs of Constanta to feed the dogs, then I change and go to work... I do this every day because I love these dogs and it is obvious that they depend on me to survive.
I am tolerated by some people who see me feeding the dogs, but that's it, the locals don't want to help at all. Their solution to the stray animal problem is to call dog catchers or poison the dogs... Although I always try to educate the community and promote humane treatment of animals, they just want the problem to go away overnight, no matter what. I'm ashamed to say it, but when it comes to dealing with this endless problem, we are a heartless society...
I consider it my duty to compensate for the cruelty of my fellow man. After all, stray dogs did not fall from the sky...they are the result of people's ignorance and carelessness and their suffering must stop."

"Before the pandemic and the war that came next, I had trouble finding donations. Now it’s even worse – donations are almost absent. I know everybody’s having a hard time, so I try to understand them. But it gets harder and harder for me to find the food I need for these dogs...
From time to time, I receive help from people in the UK with food, sterilization and medicine but even though this help means a lot for my dogs, they cannot help me all the time as their resources are also limited. I need to spend almost all my salary on food but caring for over 80 dogs is very resource-intensive and I can’t cope with everything on my own.
I exhausted all the means I had... I really hope this campaign succeeds because at this stage it's my only hope. I really need the kibble and I’d so grateful to all the people who are helping. Together we can offer the dogs a better life."
