Animal Webaction visited the site 18 June 2022 and confirms the situation described below.
"Stray cats are living hell on the streets! There are more and more of them: in the abandoned cemetery alone, there are currently more than 30 kittens, all of them sick and vulnerable... People leave them here to fend for themselves without any pity, while these poor little ones need care and their condition only worsens because they have nothing to eat. On my end, I am unable to feed so many cats, and I am more and more afraid that the lack of kibble will cause them infections or diseases.
No one comes to my rescue in a permanent way, and without help, I don't have enough money to buy kibble. The few donations I receive are only very punctual and have incredibly decreased: because of the war in Ukraine and the increase in prices, people can't help like before...
Today, I have very few kibbles left, hardly be enough to offer them a meal... At the moment, only my reassuring presence allows them to survive and fight diseases, but they cannot continue to fight without kibble. I am relying heavily on this campaign that could help them regain weight, and simply stay alive... I feel such pain when I imagine that this campaign could fail, and my cats could die!"
"The abandoned cats in the cemetery have lost weight and their health is alarming! Because of the poor quantity of kibble I have left, I had to start rationing them more than a week ago, and since then, they have been searching through the garbage to eat... The thing is that this is not good for their health, they are developing more and more serious infections and transmitting them to each other even faster!
At the moment, it's a disaster: I only feed them every other day, and despite all my efforts, I really don't see a solution anymore. If only I had the means, I would welcome them all in a shelter to protect them! But for the moment, it is an unattainable dream... My concrete priority remains to continue to feed them daily. This campaign is my ultimate hope, I will be depressed to see my cats starving before my eyes and not be able to help them if it fails..."
"I have been feeding Nivea, an abandoned kitten who lives in the cemetery, for two weeks. She has a skin infection that spreads all over her body and she also suffers from coryza. Moreover, she is very shy and does not let herself be approached easily. Right now, her health is alarming, she is losing weight and she is moving very slowly. She will not survive if she does not have enough kibble to regain her strength!"
"At the moment I can't take care of as many cats as I would like... The cats in the cemetery are all sick, they all need care but I can't take them to the vet or pay the fees, because all of this requires means that I simply don't have. I have accumulated many debts at the vet, it's an endless circle and the lack of funds and donations hinders my actions! All of this depresses me... The worst thing is that it is far from over: I expect a more severe crisis if prices continue to rise!
Unfortunately, cat owners don't sterilize their pets which results in an ever-increasing number of kittens! And while it would be necessary to sterilize as many cats as possible to stop the proliferation, I can no longer perform sterilizations for lack of means... Nobody realizes that I can't do everything on my own, I really need help!
The number of abandoned cats that I already take care of and feed keeps increasing, and I fear that because of the mating period, their number will increase again considerably in the next months. By the time the kitten season comes around, I already know that more than 90% of them will be abandoned on the street, without mercy! Without kibble, they will not live long..."
"I started taking care of stray cats in 2014. At first, no one cared but me, then over time, people changed their attitude towards cats and strays in general. Now they come knocking on my door when they find sick cats and sometimes offer to help me with feeding the cats.
Every week I discover new places of abandonment. Not so long ago I discovered the cemetery, where people abandon little kittens that do not exceed six months. I would really like to open a shelter in the long run to take in all the fragile cats I meet but unfortunately this requires a lot of financial investment, for the moment I don't have the means...
And yet I know very well that my action is essential : I feed stray cats, I look after them, I vaccinate them. I am the only one in my neighborhood to look after their well-being, and in my presence no one can harm them, but I must admit that it has never been easy to take care of such a large number of cats especially without donations... I can no longer cope alone because of the lack of means, I really need your help!"

"The debts I've accumulated at the vet's office far outweigh the donations I receive. I used to have a small project selling pet accessories that helped me make ends meet, but it doesn't work like it used to: the scarce profits barely allow me to buy medicine. Adoptions are also almost non-existent, I could only send nine cats for adoption since the beginning of the year. Everything is still very complicated...
Fortunately, my dedication and perseverance are paying off on some projects. I recently had a visit from Straycare International. Together, we made rounds to feed stray cats, discovered new cases of fragile and sick cats that we treated, and went out to meet people. They have been a great help, especially with the sterilizations: we have managed to sterilize twelve cats but due to lack of funds, we have not been able to do more for the moment... I need help to feed the cats!"
