Animal Webaction visited the site 02 July 2022 and confirms the situation described below.
“I recently moved the location of my shelter due to neighborhood problems. Here, I have more space, my dogs have better living conditions and I can care for them in a quiet environment. But with 50 dogs under my care, getting them fed is still a daily concern!
My donations have decreased a lot since the war in Ukraine and my adoptions are blocked due to what's going on with the UK. I haven’t been able to give any dog for adoption this year... By changing cities, I have also lost 2 partnerships with companies who used to give me meat leftovers. I am alone to manage everything and people here don't know me yet, I don't get help.
To be honest I’m mentally tired, I keep wondering who I could ask for support. I have contacted several organizations but have only received negative responses... In the end, besides Animal Webaction, I don't know who I could ask for kibble donations... This campaign is my only recourse!"
"Under normal circumstances, the dogs get food twice a day. At the moment though, I'm only able to feed them once a day... The lack of means prevents me from buying larger quantities, and only allows me to buy the cheapest kibble on the market, which is of poor quality... This does not fill the dogs' stomachs nor does it give them the nutrients they need to stay healthy.
This situation has been going on for several weeks and I can see my dogs are getting weaker, they have diarrhea and have become more irritable...I am focusing all my energy on trying to get kibble, and I'm spending the few donations I have on food, but it's not enough...
I’m really concerned that my dogs will face some serious health problems soon if I don't find a way to change their diet and increase their portions. I’m mentally tired and I honestly don't know who else to ask to for help..."
“I rescued Bobi after seeing a Facebook post, his previous owner used to beat him. I was asked by people to take him from there so I called the Police and took him with me to the shelter. Because of the severe beatings he's received over the years, Boby's spine is fractured... He is paralysed.
His right eye was also damaged and infected due to abuse, the vet had to remove it. Despite his ordeal, Bobi is the kindest soul to everyone around him, he even loves cats! But his physical condition remains very fragile. He definitely needs a constant and qualitative food intake to remain stable."
“My donations have decreased a lot in the last few months because people are more involved in providing help and resources to the people in Ukraine. I'm still being helped by the organization "Voice for the Needy for my veterinary bills but it has become less and less. In one month for instance, I've received the equivalent of 20 euros.
The thing is, rescuing and taking care of sick dogs is expensive! I have debts to the vet clinic that I can't pay off and keeping a constant food supply at the shelter has become mission impossible. I don't know what I am going to do if I don't get any help! I’m alone with so many animals, it’s only one of me and so many of them... All I can do right is try to stay hopeful and expect that everything will go well and that this campaign will succeed, for the sake of my dogs.”
“Rescuing and caring for animals is a life of hardships, but it's the one that I have chosen and I wouldn't have it any other way! When I think of all the dogs I've helped since 2006, it makes me really proud. Even if sometimes, often times, that means I have to give up some of my own basic needs to provide for theirs! At the end of the day, knowing that I am saving dogs from death, helping them heal with my care and love, is the greatest reward in the world!
My actions also contributed to a shift in some people’s mentalities, especially people from the countryside, in regards to how they treat their animals. I convinced them to sterilize their pets and the number of stray dogs has decreased as a result. I think this is a great achievement. In my new location, I'm actually planning on organizing a sterilization campaign in partnership with another association from this county, if funds allow. I really hope that the sterilization campaign will take place and that together we will get to as many dogs as possible."
Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Romania, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.
“I tried to contact organizations to help me overcome the current lack of donations but they too are overwhelmed by the situation and aren't able to help. In addition, most of the resources are currently redirected to Ukraine so I am always getting less help.
I need this kibble campaign to succeed so I will have some kibble to feed my dogs, and help me get ready for winter. With your help, I won’t have to focus all my energy on getting kibble, and I could redirect the funds to vet bills and other important matters."
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The organizer doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.
