Animal Webaction visited the site 25 July 2022 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Naima has almost no kibble left to feed the hundred or so street cats that her association cares for, they will starve if no one intervenes!

%%%

"I take care of about a hundred street cats in several districts of Casablanca; I spend hours looking after them every day during my rounds and I fight every day for sterilisation and to maintain stable colonies.

Unfortunately, abandonment has increased recently, people are in crisis, the rise in prices has turned everything upside down: they can no longer take care of their animals and abandon them in the street... The cats, most of which are not sterilised, are reproducing and this considerably increases the number of mouths to feed for the association.

We are running out of the last 2 bags of kibble and because of the price hike and the cruel lack of donations, we are unable to buy more! We are going to have to ration the portions before we run out completely... I am stressed and worried about the future of the cats. With the extreme temperatures, they never need our help again, but here nobody but us thinks of giving them food or water...  It is vital that this campaign succeeds so that we can continue to help them."

2. If Naima does not bring kibble to the street cats, they are doomed!

###

"Street cats do not live in good conditions, when they are hungry, they eat everything they find, the leftover food in the bins, the leftovers or spoiled products that the central market traders throw away... This inadequate diet is reflected in their already fragile health: they are getting thinner and thinner, they have diarrhoea...

If I don't find kibble to continue to provide them with their daily meal, the cats could become fragile, fall ill and in the long term die of hunger... it would be unmanageable and unbearable, it would be a horror! If they expand their range of movement in search of food, they also risk being hit by cars. I have recently found several cats in accidents...

I'm stressed and worried, I spend all my time thinking about these cats and what will happen to them if I don't find any kibble... No other organisation is able to help us and our appeals for donations are not working. You are our only recourse!"

3. Without kibble to boost his immunity, Symba's medication has no effect: he is in danger!

%%%

"Symba is a 3 year old street cat, I've been taking care of him since he was very small. He is currently suffering from an abscess on his face and as he kept scratching himself, he ended up piercing it... At the moment the treatment I'm giving him isn't working.

The poor guy is already very thin and vulnerable and in these difficult conditions I am afraid he will get even worse... Symba is very fearful and won't let anyone but me near him. It is imperative that I am able to give him quality kibble so that the treatment can take effect and he has a chance to recover! "

4. Falling donations, inflation and rising abandonment rates mean that Naima cannot afford to buy the kibble the cats need to survive!

###

"The association is at a dead end: not only are we unable to feed and care for all the cats because there are so many of them, but we can no longer buy kibble because of the price increase! Donations have also dropped a lot, the little we still receive via the online kitchens is largely insufficient to meet the needs of the cats. All together, we have become unable to buy kibble alone...

Thanks to our actions of sterilizations, vaccinations and care, we alleviate the suffering of the abandoned cats by allowing them to be adopted in a loving family. But in order to continue, we are dependent on the goodwill and donations of everyone! I really hope that everyone will participate in this campaign and that it will be successful because we really need help... There are no small donations and as I often say: small streams make big rivers."

5. Naima is not asking for money, only kibble to keep the cats from starving.

###

"Sarah, the president of the association has, like me, always been interested in animal protection. In 2017, she took the plunge and created the association with the aim of improving the quality of life of street cats and relieving their misery. I am the main volunteer of the association and we have no employees.

I have been feeding the cats for more than 20 years, I sacrifice my time and energy for these animals, I consider them as my children. I can't do without them and above all I can't close my eyes or let them suffer cats in the street without helping them!

I can say it: I am proud of everything I have given to these animals during all these years and proud to see cats that were sick before, in good health! I really hope that Moroccan society will evolve in the right direction and that people will eventually become aware of animal suffering and the repercussions of their actions..."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Naima will not receive any money but 1000 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Morocco.

###

Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Morocco, which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Calls for help and online fundraising are no longer having the desired effect: this kibble campaign is Naima's last hope to save the cats.

"Locally we have a few people who encourage us and help us with the care and neutering but it's not nearly enough. At the moment, we can unfortunately only perform 10 sterilisations per month. It's a vicious circle: the more the cat population increases, the more kibble we need!

We have tried to contact several organisations for help but to no avail. We have started a fundraising campaign on Facebook but donations are almost non-existent. Without donations, we cannot continue our actions and without kibble, the cats cannot survive!"

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the collected products, the beneficiary receives nothing and the buyers get a refund..

9. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies. It is very difficult to find funding for kibbles, many cats remain starving in the street!
