Animal Webaction visited the site 13 August 2022 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Sally is running out of kibble to feed the many street dogs cared for by her association. They will starve if no one helps!

%%%

"Over the years, our association has helped Treat, Neuter, Vaccinate and Tagg (TNVT) more than 3200 dogs in the streets of Tangier. Despite this huge accomplishment, our work is far from over! Percentage wise, we've only accounted for 10% of the stray population... There are still thousands of dogs in need of our help here.

We are entirely dependent on exterior funding to increase our project's reach and help all strays but with COVID and now the war, a lot of our monthly donations have decreased, put on hold, or completely cancelled... I constantly beg on social media and knock on every single door - people do donate but unfortunately it is far from enough. We also get fewer new supporters while day-to-day costs are constantly increasing...

I cannot express enough how bad our situation is at present. For one, the cost to run our vehicles has literally doubled because of the gas increase. It is impacting our work on a street level, and it's preventing us from buying the food that the strays so badly need! Getting your help with kibble would be invaluable. It would enable us to feed the tagged dogs under our care and it would allow us to increase the number of strays under our protection - saving them from the daily cullings that still occur on a daily basis in Morocco..."

2. At Sally's sanctuary, 500 vulnerable dogs are also threatened with starvation!

%%%

"The number of dogs at the sanctuary has increased to 500 dogs this summer. We keep adding dogs who can’t handle themselves individually due to accidents and illnesses... We have over 20 dogs on wheels, and 40 with amputations.  We also have many blind and old dogs who need extra care, support and love. One thing is certain, none of them would have survived on the streets without our help!

We have managed to rehome many dogs, but sadly our adoptions have gradually lessened since the start of the pandemic. We rescue more dogs than we manage to rehome, meaning our population is growing rather than going down! Caring for so many vulnerable dogs implies a lot of funds, funds that we simply don't have currently...

I don’t have any choice but to ask for your help. Please help us get this food for our babies... If the  situation continues to deteriorate, we will have to close our doors. That would be our worst nightmare, and it would be even worse for our dogs..."

3. Heavily impacted by declining donations and inflation, Sally struggles to continue caring for the dogs. But she has accumulated debts and can no longer buy kibble!

###

"The war in Ukraine has had a worse impact on us than the COVID pandemic. The inflation has made every single product or service a lot more expensive. In addition, it hardly rained in Tangier this year, meaning that every vegetable, water and eveverything else has reached a ridiculous price... We pray for all humans and animals. This year is really devastating!

Of course, given the current situation, our donations keep on decreasing and it comes as no surprise. All our supporters are having a hard time, everybody is struggling to survive. We've already had to let one employee go because we couldn’t afford to cover his wage. We also have an outstanding food bill of several thousands of euros... At this stage, the risk of being cut off from food supply is more real than ever...

f this campaign is successful, we will manage to pay at least half of the debt, and our supplier will continue to provide us with the kibble we need. But if our debt continues to grow, they will cut us off... That would be devastating... We need your help now more than ever! Every person who donates is a hero in our eyes."

4. Sally isn't asking for money, only kibble to keep the dogs from starving.

###

"I have helped strays all my life! At the age of 8, I promised myself to change my city, after witnessing the culling of stray dogs. I started volunteered with PDSA, a British animal charity here in Tangier from the age of 8 until 13. I have also worked for a vet clinic in the UK and eventually decided to sell my home to start my charity back where it all started.

I have invested everything I had to create my sanctuary and help the dogs of Tangier but to me, it's not a sacrifice, it's a duty! Life is so so precious and we are the voice of the voiceless, those babies need us and we must be there for them. SFT is now home to more than 610 animals altogether. For me, that's a big success in itself.

We have also won the World Rabies Day award three years in a row: step by step, we are making a difference! The community is also becoming more receptive to the plight of animals, identified dogs are no longer mistreated; and people know how to react if an unidentified dog bites them, to prevent them from getting rabies. Education is so important! Only the latter will pave the way for greater community awareness of animal issues."

5. If this campaign succeeds, Sally will not receive any money but 3000 kg of kibble, delivered from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistics center in Morocco, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

6. Seach for sponsors, calls for help on social networks, Sally does her best but cannot find a solution to continue feeding the abandoned dogs.

"We try to shed light on our activities by posting on social media and alerting our community to our struggles. A few years back, we were lucky enough to be featured on the Dodo; more recently, we received the visit of a celebrity who helped us sterilize 10 female dogs.  All those initiatives are essential because they help us gain more visibility but unfortunately, hardly any new followers are donating to the cause.

We understand that it is an international crisis, we understand that everybody is struggling, but please help us continue. We are making the world a better place for all  of us. So many souls would be alive and happy if this campaign succeeded...  Please please please, let's make it happen."

7. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

8. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies. It is very difficult to find funding for kibble, many dogs remain starving on the street!
