We can't let this pound's 411 dogs starve!

1. In Romania, Nicoleta is almost out of kibble to feed the 411 dogs at the pound. They will starve to death if no one helps!

"We have more dogs than ever before! Adoptions have gone down significantly since the war started while there are more and more dogs being brought to the pound every day. We're doing everything we can to get funding but our donations have gone down considerably and kibble have reached record prices in the last few months... Food is too expensive and we can’t even buy the same amounts we used to, when there were less dogs... 

At this very moment, we’ve only got food for today and that’s it! The dogs clearly don't eat enough. They've been eating halved portions for over a month and no matter how hard we try, it’s just impossible to properly feed all of them. The dogs are hungry, nervous and fights occur more and more frequently... I sincerely hope you can help us because quite honestly, our situation has never been this dire!

I feel completely helpless and demoralized and given that winter is just around the corner, now is simply the worst possible time to face a food shortage... We are barely hanging on and we rely on this campaign today more than ever to be able to feed our dogs!"

2. The dogs are starving and fight each other for meagre portions of kibble... If no solution is found, Nicoleta is worried they might end up killing one another!

"The dogs get 50% less food than before... Some lack energy and are lethargic, while many have become nervous and aggressive. They are fighting at mealtimes because they are starving and everyone is trying to eat their fill... Some of the dogs have already been injured and if we don't manage to give them enough kibble in the next few days, I fear they will end up killing each other!

We have been coming to the pound for years, our help is crucial for the well-being of the dogs there and our cooperation with the administration is good. But the situation we are experiencing is unprecedented: there have never been so many dogs and we have never had so many problems feeding them! I can't stand to see the dogs suffer like this and if we don't manage to fulfill our part of the contract by feeding them, I am very afraid that the pound will decide to resort to euthanasia...

We have managed to avoid this so far but now the threat seems more real than ever... I am completely terrified that this will happen. We need your help! I'm hoping for a miracle, at this stage there's not much else to do..."

3. Old and blind, Ana was abandoned by her owners in the street.... Unable to fend for herself, she needs kibble to survive at the pound!

"Ana is a 10 year old dog, she was brought by the dog catchers to the pound about 2 months ago. She was abandoned, most likely because her owners could not or would not take care of her anymore. She is blind, old, sick and her health is deteriorating... She needs a good diet and more care than the others. Her blindness also makes her totally unable to defend herself against other more dominant dogs who try to steal her food... Getting these kibbles is a matter of life and death for her!"

4. Donations have fallen drastically, Nicoleta and Florentina are indebted and can no longer buy kibble for the dogs! 

"The municipality pays for about a quarter of the kibble needed for the pound, the salaries of the staff and the bills. Florentina and I are the only two volunteers there and we have to raise money for three quarters of the kibble and all the veterinary costs. The problem is that our donations have dropped considerably in the last few months! We are doing the best we can with our very limited resources, but the impact is considerable.

We don't have enough money to buy the same amount of kibble as before, when in fact we have more dogs, and we need more kibble... Our veterinary debts are so huge, we have to postpone sterilisations and medical care. All the donations we receive are used to buy kibble but it's still not enough! We absolutely need outside help to feed the dogs and keep them healthy. If more people donated, things would be much better and our dogs would be safe"

5. Nicoleta isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

"I first stepped into the pound 12 years ago. I had come to collect a dog I was looking after from my building and when I saw the conditions there and the suffering, I knew I had to do something! That's when I decided to form a group of volunteers in my town. Since then we have been trying to provide food for the dogs, get them adopted and improve their living conditions. We also feed stray dogs and carry out an annual sterilisations throughout the region. Over the years we have sterilised thousands of dogs!

Our life is 100% dedicated to the dogs. We make a lot of sacrifices, we sacrifice our time, our money and our personal lives but as long as we can help the dogs, then it is all worth it! Seeing the dogs properly fed, seeing them off to their adoptive families... It is all priceless to us. Dogs are our best friends and sometimes they are the only ones who understand our pain... By dedicating our lives to them, we are only giving back to them."

6. If this campaign is successful, Nicoleta will not receive any money but 4800 kg of kibble, delivered from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Romania.

7. Partner associations have already done their best to help but the needs are too great... Nicoleta can only count on this campaign to feed the dogs at the pound!

"We post daily on our page to alert our community to our successes, our struggles, our needs. Despite this constant involvement and effort, our donations have dropped considerably in recent months and so have our adoptions! A German organisation helps us with adoptions whenener they can, but people are adopting much more in Ukraine now. In the last three months we have had about 7 adoptions per month, which is much lower than our usual adoption rate.

At the moment we have 411 dogs in the pound and puppies are being abandoned every day... We are overwhelmed by the number of dogs in our care and the costs of feeding them. We are doing everything we can to raise funds, but our donations are down, other organisations can't help us, we are struggling and we don't know what else to do! You are the only organisation that can help us with kibble, there is no one else..."

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded. 

9. In Romania, it is difficult to find funds for kibbles, there are no aid, no grants, no foundation... Many abandoned dogs die alone in the streets, in complete indifference.
