1. In Bosnia, Samira and Ifet are almost out of kibble to feed their shelter's 70 dogs. They will starve if no one intervenes!

%%%

"We take care of 70 dogs, whom we’ve rescued or found in all sorts of conditions: wounded, frozen, sick, starved… It makes Samira (my wife) and I really sad! They’re already fragilised and now, as winter arrives, finding solutions to feed them is our most preoccupying issue…

Winters are harsh here: the freezing cold makes life 10 times harder for the dogs, even more if they’re in poor health and hungry! Unfortunately, they don’t eat enough, right now - their portions are rationed and if I cut them even more, maybe my kibble stock could last one more week, at best…

I would do anything for these dogs… Knowing they’re hungry and unhappy, imagining they’ll starve if I can’t find kibble makes me feel miserable... I absolutely dread my total inability to provide these dogs with kibble and right now, this campaign is the only solution for them to just survive!”

2. The dogs are famished and often fight: many are too weak to live through the tough Bosnian winter without kibble!

###

"The dogs eat less quantity and quality and it has side-effects on their health: skin diseases, ill-processing... They’re malnourished, lack essential nutrients and lose weight; they get weaker than they already are. Also, their aggressiveness peaks and they’re edgy: they often fight and it’s absolutely stressful!

On top of that, winter is coming and it’s a big concern - I can’t imagine lacking kibble at this time of the year! Our dogs are all extremely vulnerable, most escaped terrible fates and awful deaths outside. They can’t make it through the winter without kibble, they’re not strong or healthy enough!

Getting kibble is always our main problem, but it’s never been so difficult before! Donations are decreasing while the costs of living and all of our expenses for the shelter and our dogs keep increasing… If this campaign fails,  the consequences on our dogs will be horrific…”

3. Maky is a survivor: emaciated and vulnerable, he won't make it  without this kibble delivery...

###

"Maky is a six-year-old dog who was rescued from a nearby death pound… He’s really fearful and constantly struggles gaining weight: he is particularly affected by the reduced quantities of kibble. He’s gaunt and never eats his fill… His state of health is so fragile that he has no chance to make it without this kibble delivery! ”

4. Suffering from serious health issues, Samira’s bed-bound and very weak: she cannot manage the lack of kibble…

"Samira is this shelter’s cornerstone but at the moment, she’s very sick and unable to work at the shelter and take care of the dogs… I’m working there alone for the whole time she’s recovering, despite my own health problems… I just can’t let everyone down, but it is definitely not a “one-person job”!

There are many mouths to feed and despite doing all I can to ensure the dogs’ well-being, it’s too hard to do it all alone… Things aren’t the same, without the shelter’s heroine! We’re a team but she’s the one who’s in charge of appealing for help and collecting or fundraising…

Her illness directly impacts our ability to get kibble: she’s much better at doing those than me! So far, we don’t know when her state will improve… Hopefully very soon; the dogs and I love and miss her so much. This campaign is vital to everyone at the shelter: both humans and dogs!”

5. Facing everything alone, Ifet has to deal with inflation and the cruel lack of donations. Unable to find kibble, this campaign is his last resort to feed the dogs!

###

"We used to have much more support and donations, at the beginning… It’s gone downhill with this series of world events impacting everyone’s lives and financial situations over the last years… Inflation affects our finances for the worst and it has also made people more reluctant to donate for animals.

We don’t have jobs, the shelter is our full time activity - without help, it’s impossible to cover all these dogs’ needs and our debts will keep growing… Everything has become impossibly expensive, like vet bills, kibble… Samira’s medical care is also very costly too, but these are just vital expenses!

It’s too sad, we can no longer rescue any more dogs in such a disastrous situation: Samira is too ill, we lack resources, we’re already postponing many vet appointments and soon, we’ll be fully out of kibble! It’s already extremely tight for our dogs, they really deserve this campaign to succeed…”

6. Samira and Ifet aren't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"We started this shelter to save every stray dog from the streets and to guarantee their safety and basic needs. We also wanted to allow these beautiful creatures to heal and find loving homes… The reality, years after, is still sad though; we have no volunteers and there are still many dogs out there, exposed to all types of dangers but mostly one: human’s cruelty. It’s hard to change people’s well-anchored mentalities and lack of interest…

But our work and influence as a shelter are beneficial in this remote area; we care about dogs who were left to die… There are still many soulless people who are cruel towards animals - we do our best to reverse the situation. We haven’t had many dogs adopted recently and it doesn’t help decreasing the number of dogs under our care. We desperately need more support and help to continue running the shelter and feeding our dogs in those hard times…"

7. If this campaign succeeds, Samira and Ifet will not receive any money but 1440 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics centre in Bosnia.

Animal Webaction has a logistics centre in Bosnia which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

8. The shelter's supporters did all they could to help Samira and Ifet in such difficult times: this campaign is their final option to keep the dogs alive...

"Samira is the one in charge of posting on Facebook, to give updates on the dogs’ health, adoptions but above all, to call for help. Right now, times have never been so hard for us - although Samira continues posting on Facebook from her sickbed, she can only helplessly cry for support and donations.

We have a small support base in Britain and their goodwill and determination are priceless to us. Their unerring support to Samira in those trying times is heart-warming. Alas, the help we get decreases as people struggle too much all across Europe.

Donations are at a standstill and we are struggling to collect kibble… Samira’s absence makes everything harder for the shelter to function, but also for the dogs and I… All the hopes and wishes we have for the dogs will vanish if this campaign fails."

9. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail...
