Animal Webaction visited the site 26 November 2022 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Hajar has run out of kibble to feed the over 100 stray cats in her care. Already sick and malnourished, they will starve if no one intervenes!

%%%

"I feed more than 100 cats on the streets, spread over the districts of Salé. Their number is increasing day by day: every day, during my rounds, I find a minimum of 2 sick cats, they are generally new abandonments or small kittens...  This problem of stray cats is the least of the municipality's worries, I sometimes have the impression that all my efforts to spay/neuter and stop their proliferation are in vain.

The street cats live in disastrous conditions, they have nothing to eat except garbage, people treat them badly, they live in hiding. They are malnourished, emaciated and often ill, and they roam mostly at night. Unfortunately, the suffering of these cats is rarely noticed.

The lack of kibble has prevented me from feeding them enough for 15 days already, they are starving, looking for food in the trash, which causes them diarrhea and serious opportunistic diseases. I don't have any bags of kibble left, I can't find a solution. The situation is overwhelming, I can't sleep at night, I will be desperate, frustrated and lost if this campaign fails."

2. Thrown out on the street with her brothers, Lili is a fragile and sick kitten: the kibble brought by Hajar are vital for her.

###

"Lili is a kitten of about 3 months old, she was probably abandoned on the street: I found her outside in a box with her brothers a week ago... Unfortunately, I don't have enough space at the shelter to take them in.

Lili suffers from ringworm, she has a patch on her face and another on her body. She is also suffering from the first symptoms of coryza, which one of her brothers has already contracted. She has no strength and has to eat more than the others, if I can't bring her kibble anymore, her condition will inexorably worsen."

3. Hajar also has more than 100 cats at her shelter, who no longer eat enough. The most fragile ones are already starting to weaken, they need kibble!

%%%

"I have over 100 cats in my shelter, and the number is increasing because I often find fragile cases who need good care. I can't leave a sick cat on the street, despite my debts, but the lack of space is simply too strong.

Here the cats live in safety, far from violence and abuse, but they are also affected by the lack of kibble. I have reduced the portions for more than a week, the weaker ones have started to get sick again. The others have lost weight, I'm afraid I might lose some of the more fragile ones to this forced diet.

I'm like a mother with babies, who is unable to find food to feed them. I'm doing my best to save my cats' situation, but I will not be able to achieve my goals if I don't get support."

4. Taken in while suffering from severe coryza, Blanka is still affected and weakened. Without kibble, her survival is threatened.

###

"Blanka is a former stray cat who was suffering from coryza when I rescued her. We were able to save her, but the after-effects were inevitable, her vision is now reduced.

She has recently developed a ringworm patch on her face, I have managed to stabilise her but I am afraid of the lack of kibble for her. Blanka is fragile, she relies on me to bring her kibble: if I can't do that, her condition will relapse, which could be fatal for her."

5. Badly affected by the drop in donations and inflation, Hajar is piling up debts. She can no longer buy kibble, nor take it on credit, this campaign is her last hope!

###

"Donations are in decline, I haven't had any new donors for a long time, the same people support me, and they themselves are tired and overwhelmed. Inflation and the crisis have destroyed everything, and have only negatively affected the situation of the stray cats and the shelter. Everything is difficult without exception, the future has become unpredictable.

I can no longer buy kibble because of the lack of means and the increase in the price of kibble. I can't take any more on credit, because I already have a lot of unpaid bills with the supplier. I have a lot of debts to the vet, and I can't do as many sterilisations as I used to because I don't have any money.

This lack of means forces me to count every penny, and even so I can't go on alone. I have exhausted all my recourses, this campaign is my only hope, I have broken my teeth on all possible doors."

6. Hajar is not asking for money, only kibble to prevent the cats from starving.

###

"The overpopulation of stray cats is becoming a big problem. I take care of these cats, I vaccinate them and sterilise them to stop their proliferation, but I am sad to see the situation they are in, and the mentalities that do not change despite all my efforts. I sometimes feel powerless in front of the carelessness of the State and the people.

Abandoned cats are not used to life on the streets, they are much more likely to fall ill and be victims of accidents. I find them families to adopt them, they can't stay on the streets.

I thank Animal webaction for all its efforts, and I really wish that people would mobilise for this campaign: without you I won't be able to continue taking care of these cats, please help me."

7. If this campaign is successful, Hajar will not receive any money but 920 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics centre in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistical centre in Morocco, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

8. With calls for help going unanswered and few supporters struggling, Hajar is bogged down and counting on this campaign.

"I've tried to contact a lot of organisations, but I don't get a favourable response. Monique from StrayCare International is the only one who helps me when she can.

I have asked the Municipality for help, but it's no use, I get no answer, it's as if these cats didn't exist. The fundraising campaigns don't work either, the last one I launched several weeks ago is still at 0€...

The financing of the shelter and my actions for stray cats relies on donations, which are practically non-existent, that's why I really need help."

9. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail...

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the collected products, the beneficiary receives nothing and the buyers get a refund...

10. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies. It is very difficult to find funding for kibble, many cats remain starving in the street!
