We cannot let the 200 cats at Michèle's shelter starve!

Urgent! In Morocco, Michèle has almost no more kibble to feed her shelter's cats. They will starve!

1. In Morocco, Michèle is almost out of kibble to feed the 200 cats in her shelter... They will starve if nobody intervenes!

%%%

"The number of cats in the shelter is constantly increasing! We are constantly asked to take cats from Agadir but also from Marrakech, Essaouira... from all the surrounding towns in fact. All the shelters in the region are full and unfortunately, we are no exception. Inflation and successive price increases are putting us in a terrible position, our kibble budget has exploded, the number of cats in our care follows the same curve and our adoptions can be counted on the fingers of one hand. We have only had 5 in the last 3 months.

I don't know how long we can continue like this. Given the market prices and the number of cats in our care, we can't buy good quality kibble. And while we used to be able to pay for kibble at 30 or 160 days, now we have to pay cash, and in advance! We can't feed our cats properly anymore and it's terrifying because we have a lot of sick cats, with colds, coryza... Their immunity is fragile and without an adapted food, their health will deteriorate even more... Today we have just a few bags of 10 kilos left, that will hardly last a few days. This campaign is the only way our cats can eat their fill!"

2. Without this kibble delivery, the many vulnerable cats in the shelter cannot hope to recover, and the street cats cannot hope to be rescued...

###

"We're really stretched to the limit of our stock... and with so many cats in our care, the looming prospect of not being able to feed them at all makes us panic! And beyond the quantities needed to feed 200 cats on a daily basis, the question of quality is just as crucial. For a while now, our cats have been eating low quality kibble, because we can't afford to buy better ones... This food weakens their immune system and as it's winter, the cats get sick more often, they lose weight, they have skin problems... Anyway, man or animal, when we feed ourselves badly, our health takes a hit!

To keep our cats in good health, we unfortunately have to provide more than just kibble. We constantly receive cats in poor condition, so there are also many veterinary expenses that come into play... All this accumulates and the finances of the association can no longer keep up! We try to reduce the number of rescues to cope, but it is not always possible. How can one look away from an animal in need? Cats and animals in general are voiceless, they need help and personally I can't stand to see them mistreated... The success of this campaign is paramount for the cats in the shelter, and those on the streets who need rescuing!"

3. Anshin can barely see and his immunity is weakened : he needs kibble to prevent his health from deteriorating further!

###

"Anshin is a cat of about 6 years old who was living in the garbage. When we took him in, his eyes were bursting out of their sockets... Unfortunately it didn't get much better. Today he can hardly see anything at all... Anshin is also extremely fearful, and like all the other particularly vulnerable cats in the shelter, he tends to catch everything that comes along: infections, viruses... In fact for these cats it's simple, their immune system is very precarious and any change of food (quality, quantity...) makes them even more fragile. Anshin needs to eat good kibble in sufficient quantities otherwise his health will continue to deteriorate!"

4. The association is in a difficult financial situation: donations are decreasing and debts are increasing. Michèle can no longer buy kibble!

###

"With the COVID period and now the war in Ukraine, everything has increased, even the most basic things like heating, electricity... People don't have much money anymore and as our association works only with donations, it doesn't help... Despite our daily posts on social media, we have very few donations, sponsorships or even adoptions.

In fact, at all levels, the help we receive is much more limited than before. For example, we used to receive help from a foundation for sterilizations of street cats, but from 80 cats a month, we have now gone down to 40 sterilizations. Our vet debts are up and if we at least had that help with kibble, we wouldn't have to worry about feeding the cats for a while and we'd have more money to spay and neuter street cats, which would stop the proliferation, and the number of cats we get at the shelter... It's all connected!"

5. Michèle isn't asking for money, only kibble to keep the cats from starving.

###

"Since 2011, the association has been working to sterilize as many animals as possible and relies entirely on private donations to do so, since no public initiatives are currently in place. We have three shelters in which more than 800 dogs and 200 cats are hosted. All our facilities are full and there are also 250 dogs at the pound; stray dogs and cats...

It never stops, animals are brought to us every day... Young people are affected when they see an injured dog or cat, but as they cannot afford to take care of it, they turn to us. This in itself is positive because it proves that mentalities are changing among the younger generation!

In more than a decade, the association has saved thousands of animals, which makes me very proud! But because of the lack of donations, we are constantly forced to make difficult choices: feeding our animals, caring for them, or sterilizing the strays? We continue to hope that the municipality will implement a large-scale sterilization and vaccination program, as this is the only way to stop the cycle of overpopulation and eradicate rabies...."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Michèle will not receive money but 920 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Morocco, which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

7. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

8. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies. It is very difficult to find funding for kibble, many cats are left to starve on the street!
