"Our association takes care of about 400 stray cats, spread over about forty feeding sites. The task is colossal, and the situation is only getting more complex: we have almost no stocks of kibble and no means of buying more. We have enough left for about ten days at most!
Until now, we have managed to collect enough food to feed all the cats. But it's getting harder and harder to do food collections in shops, and they don't work as well as they used to. With the economic crisis, volunteers can no longer afford to compensate with their own money...
We are therefore forced to ration the cats. But with winter and the lack of food, their immune system is weakened. Many of them are starting to get sick with coryza or develop skin problems because of the cheap food that is the only one we have... They won't hold on unless we find a solution quickly!"
"Between the veterinary debts that the association is struggling to pay off and the loss of large donors due to inflation, our budget is greatly strained! The subsidies from the town hall only cover a quarter of the annual costs and the online fund-raising campaigns only help occasionally for large veterinary expenses.
Some free-roaming cats used to be fed by local people. But today, these people no longer have the means. Between that and the increasing number of abandonments, the number of cats to be fed is not decreasing. Without additional means, it will be impossible for us to continue our actions... The cats will then find themselves without care or food!"
"Linca is a 9 year old cat who lives on a green field where it is very cold. The poor thing is therefore regularly ill and unwell. Due to a very bad case of coryza, she has unfortunately lost an eye.
With her field of vision reduced by half and the virus weakening her, it is very difficult if not impossible for her to find food on her own. She is entirely reliant on us and the food we can give her, or not, to survive..."
"I have been a member and active volunteer within the association for several years. On a personal level, taking care of free-roaming cats has a big financial impact. And it also takes up a lot of my time every day. I have been involved in the animal cause for 16 years now.
Without our association, cats in this area would be left to their own devices. Some sites are isolated and very difficult to access and there is no other association in our area. We can't abandon all these poor cats!"
