1. In North Macedonia, Ivana is out of kibble to feed the 200 dogs abandoned in the streets and public dumps: they will starve if no one intervenes!

###

"People here don't care about the fate of stray animals. They poison street dogs, abandon their own... We just found 5 puppies at the dump, obviously just left there, with a bowl of milk and some bread. The people who abandoned them there probably thought it would be enough to ensure their survival... I have to deal with this kind of ignorance on a daily basis and yet, I don't think I'll ever get used to it! Today, I took those puppies with me because I know they wouldn't have survived otherwise. But the number of dogs in the dumps is increasing every day and my shelter is completely full!

All these dogs or puppies are in bad health, they are covered with parasites, many of them have mange or are infected with distemper. Besides the space problem inherent to my shelter, saving them requires a continuous flow of resources, which I do not have! I do everything I can to feed them and offer them medical treatment on the spot, but I emptied the few grams of kibble I had left today when I visited... My stress level is off the charts, as I know that the survival of these dogs depends on my help alone and without any kibble to give them, they will not survive long in these conditions!"

2. The 70 dogs living at Ivana's shelter are already not eating enough, they will not survive any longer without kibble!

"My kibble supply is running out faster than I can buy it, so I have no choice but to reduce the dogs' portions to try and stretch it as much as possible. At the shelter, I have been reducing the portions of the dogs in "better shape" for over a week now, to avoid risking the health of those who are sick or recovering. But unfortunately, some of them have already started having gastrointestinal problems; and I emptied my last bag of kibble today...

Due to the lack of donations, I now have to resort to feeding them old soaked bread and leftovers. I'm afraid that my healthy dogs will get sick, and that the old or vulnerable ones will get even weaker... Not being able to provide the most basic thing for my dogs makes me terribly sad, and anguishes me to the core. I don't know how to cope with this situation! Right now, you are my only option to feed my dogs properly and avoid such consequences!"

3. Affected by pneumonia, Minnie is having a hard time getting her strength back. Without kibble, her recovery is impossible!

###

"Minnie is about 4 months old. We found her at the dump when she was just a puppy and brought her to the shelter. I don't know how she ended up there, but I guess she was abandoned by her owners, like many others... Unfortunately, when we rescued her, she was affected by distemper, which took a long time to recover from. She is now suffering from chronic pneumonia, which is just one consequence of her getting over distemper, as well as skin issues, and bone deformity due to loss of calcium and vitamins.

Her body is really fighting to beat the disease, but her recovery is proving difficult. In the last 2 months she has finally started growing and developing properly but the lack of kibble jeopardizes that progress greatly! Her health is still very fragile and this delivery of kibble is essential to her survival."

4. The association suffers a great deal from the drop in donations and inflation: debts are piling up and Ivana can no longer buy kibble!

###

"Unfortunately, our donations are very low and at the same time the price of kibble has risen significantly in recent months; everything is much more expensive. I have to constantly adapt to the resources available, and even though I try to ensure that my dogs are as little affected as possible by these circumstances for which they are in no way responsible, changes in diet are frequent, the quality of the kibble and the portions fluctuate. Right now, I only have old bread or leftovers to give them...

These alternatives are bad for my dogs' health and morally speaking, it is very complicated for me to have to manage all this uncertainty on a daily basis... The lack of donations also forces me to delay certain surgical procedures, as veterinary debts accumulate for vaccinations and treatments of dogs in distress. If this campaign is successful, we would be ensured to have a stock of quality kibble, which would allow all our dogs to eat their fill, and our vulnerable dogs to recover. We would also be able to provide medical treatment for all dogs and carry out more rescues... This kibble would create a virtuous circle that we desperately need!"

5. Ivana isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"When I first got involved in animal welfare, we were only helping a few street dogs. Over the years, we built a shelter and found loving families for many dogs that were about to die. Today, we are the largest organisation in North Macedonia helping abandoned dogs, and the only ones saving the lives of dogs in the dumps. We never give up on these dogs, even though they have almost no chance of being adopted.

A few months ago, our dog Bruce who had spent 2.5 years with us and was terribly anxious and scared, finally found his home in England. My joy was endless! It is these types of achievements that keep me going and give meaning to my hard work for these animals.

Unfortunately, there are no public initiatives in our country to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership. Abandonments are still far too common and the phenomenon of stray reproduction is difficult to stop, despite our spaying efforts! Our little association really needs a huge helping hand, literally and figuratively, to be able to help all these dogs and change the mentality and behaviour of the local population."

7. If this campaign succeeds, Ivana will not receive any money but 1800 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Macedonia.

Animal Webaction has a logistics centre in Macedonia which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

7. Donations are too low and attempts to obtain help do not bear fruit... Ivana can only count on this campaign to feed the dogs!

"We regularly contact local businesses to ask them to donate to our charity, but we almost never get a positive response. We are helped by organisations in the UK with adoptions, and have managed to place 20-25 dogs in the last few months with their invaluable help. Unfortunately this month we know for a fact that we will have fewer adoptions as people are planning a holiday for Easter and don't want to bother with the extra expenses of adopting a dog.

We have many dogs in our care: on the streets, in the dumps, and at the shelter. Unfortunately our attempts at fundraising are not enough; we can't raise sufficient amounts of food to feed them all! Even though I am determined to continue to help all the dogs in my city at all costs, I am really scared for them at the moment, as I am running out of resources... I am desperate and hope with all my heart that this kibble campaign succeeds."

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

Liste des récoltes échouées

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Macedonia, neither the state nor the population wants to help the abandoned dogs. A lot of animals are left to die outside, there is no care for them.
