"My association feeds 500 street cats, spread over forty different feeding sites. Unfortunately, our kibble stocks are currently at zero! Due to a lack of aid and sufficient means, we cannot buy enough to feed everyone properly.
The cats have therefore been rationed for several months. Since they don't eat every day, they are starving and throw themselves on the little we have to give them whenever they see us arriving! But the thing is, the kibble we do have is of low quality and nutritional index, so some of the cats vomit... It is like we are trapped in a vicious circle! Most of them are already weakened, so what will happen to them if we have nothing left at all to feed them?"
"Noirette is a 5-year-old cat who lives on the street. She is skinny and struggles to find food on her own, and sadly she has been doing worse lately. She is covered in sores on her neck and back...
We don't know if it's related to an allergy, but the flea treatments are not working. She was already fragile and now she is getting weaker... Without kibble to regain her strength, her condition will only get worse, until she's skin and bones!"
"The subsidies we receive do not even cover half of the association's annual expenses. For a year now, we have been unable to pay for sterilisations and have been doing them on credit. Our veterinary debts now amount to 2,500 euros! Between the in-store collections that are no longer possible and the prices that are only increasing (we get half as much kibble as before for the same price), the situation is only getting worse.
We work tirelessly to try to sell creations for the benefit of the association, but this represents very little money collected. As for donations, they are clearly decreasing: in 2022, we had received 2,000 euros less than in 2021... With 500 cats to feed, this gap has become very penalising, to say the least!"
"Taking care of free cats is almost a 24/7 job. I have a very small pension, but I have to invest a lot of my money every month for the cats, especially in vet care. We can't let cats in need suffer!
Unfortunately, the situation is not going to get any better: the more time passes, the fewer volunteers there are. I don't know how we're going to manage and continue our actions. I can't bear the idea that the cats will be left helpless, waiting for us in vain...".
