"I do my best to keep my dogs healthy but things have taken an extremely difficult turn lately. I have a low pension, many mouths to feed and kibble is excessively expensive.... The financial and in-kind donations I receive are also very low and few, which only makes things worse.
I am an optimist at heart and I fight like a lioness for the well-being of my dogs, but these days I am deeply distressed. I am completely out of kibble; I give my dogs leftover meat, and I hardly have any left...The supply of kibble is a huge challenge that I am unfortunately unable to face alone, and if this campaign fails, I really don't know what I will do... Feeding my dogs is not something that can be postponed, they must eat every day!
My health is not good, I will have to spend a few days in the hospital for a treatment and yet the only thing I care about is that my dogs have enough to eat while I am away... I have no one else to turn to at this point, you are my only hope!"
"Unfortunately, my limited resources coupled with the low donations do not allow me to buy kibble at this time. The dogs eat leftover meat from the slaughterhouse but its supply is irregular; insufficient and this food is not adapted for them either. I can see that they need better quality food.... They have constant diarrhea and their aggressiveness is increasing. They fight, even though they are usually nice, calm dogs!
Of course, the lack of kibble and the uncertainty of its supply also means that I can't help street dogs, nor can I bring new dogs to the shelter. I can't help but worry about all the dogs I'm not able to help... I try in every way I can to get donations and buy kibble, but it's not working. I feel very bad because of all this, I'm stressed, I don't sleep much and when I add to that my health problems, it's really not easy... We only have a tiny amount of food left, I'm very worried and I really need your help to prevent my dogs from suffering more serious consequences!"
"Lili is around 4 years old, I found her on the street. She appears to be a healthy dog at first glance, but she has her own set of health problems. She suffered distemper when she was younger, which wrecked her nervous system. She eats slowly compared to other dogs and her jaw shakes when she chews.
She has to hide when she sleeps because when she shakes, other dogs start attacking her out of fear. Due to her health problems and difficulties in everyday life, she would be the first one to be impacted by a food shortage... We need help to avoid putting her in danger!"
"The situation has always been difficult, but it is even more so today... In fact, it has never been so bad! When there were fewer dogs in the shelter and kibble was cheaper, I didn't ask for anyone's help. But over the years, the number of dogs in my care only increased as people abandoned their dogs right outside my shelter. Unfortunately, this habit has not changed! Besides that, my adoptions are very low and I don't have any cooperation with anyone for kibble...
Donations are also dwindling, the little we manage to collect is sometimes not even enough to feed the dogs for a day. Of course, any help is welcome, but compared to the number of dogs, our needs in kibble and veterinary care are constant and far beyond what we receive!
Today, my health is in danger, I feel weak and I have no financial resources... I feel like I am in a vicious circle! Even though it is obvious that things would be easier if my heath was better, my illness does not matter to me. All I want is for my dogs to be well! I hope with all my heart that this campaign is successful, as sourcing kibble is my biggest problem, and getting your help is my only prospect of being able to feed my dogs at this time."
"I can't describe the feeling I get when I help animals; taking care of them is simply the purpose of my life! Unfortunately, no one here tries to help me, on the contrary, they do everything to prevent me from saving dogs... This lack of support at the local level, and the decrease of donations at the international level limit me in my actions.
I often have to make impossible decisions about which dog to put in the shelter or which dog to leave in the street... This is a source of great pain for me, and even with the passage of time, the difficulty never diminishes. I constantly ask myself afterwards if I made the wrong choice, because I know how harsh the laws of survival on the street are.
One thing is for sure, dogs do not deserve this life, nor the abuse they suffer on a daily basis! They are living beings who need care, love and basic living conditions. I have been giving my heart and soul to this cause for years, but unfortunately, I am old, diminished, and even if I can count on the temporary help of two employees until I recover, nothing is possible without a mass mobilization, to really help all these animals!"
