1. In Morocco, Kawthar is running out of kibble to feed the 110 street cats in her care. They will starve if no one intervenes!
"The stray cat population is growing, along with the abandonment rate! People don't spay or neuter their cats and get rid of them once they are pregnant. What's the point of getting a cat if you are against spaying and plan to abandon her once she is in heat?! Even if I deal with this kind of situation every day, I'm still revolted by it!
Of course, there are also people who abandon their cats a few months after their adoption because they realize that they are no longer ready to take care of them... In the end, the streets end up being cluttered with stray cats and apart from my father and my neighbor who lend me a hand occasionally, I have to manage feeding them alone... However, beyond the lack of manpower, the most difficult thing to manage is undoubtedly the lack of means!
With inflation, people are struggling to provide for themselves, so it's not surprising that donations in favor of animals have dropped. I've been rationing kibble on my rounds for a week now, and as I speak, I only have one bag left... I'm at a dead end! Only this campaign can help me provide the quantities of kibble the cats need."
2. For lack of means, Kawthar is already forced to reduce the portions of kibble and limit her rounds, the street cats will not survive long without this campaign!
"During the month of Ramadan, restaurants and grocery stores are closed; the cats can't find anything to eat on their own. In past years, I used to spread my rounds around the city to try to feed as many cats as possible, but unfortunately this year, it's not possible... I'm almost out of kibble and I can't buy more for lack of means!
I just cover the same areas as usual, but I've already had to cut back on the kibble portions for over a week. I find the cats waiting for me at the feeding points, but with each visit, I have less and less to give them... The cats are getting weaker, they are starting to lose weight. Without this campaign, I fear that their health condition will worsen even more and since most of them are already very fragile, this is not a thrilling prospect...
Breaking the bond of feeding with the street cats means starting from scratch. It's seeing the cats that I love so much, getting weaker, getting sick... Without my feeding rounds, it is also not possible to create a relationship of trust and catch the new cats that need to be treated or sterilized at the vet. If this campaign fails, I will be inconsolable thinking of all the street cats I'll be unable to help..."
3. Shrek has scabies and doesn't let himself be caught... He will die if Kawthar can no longer bring him kibble!
"Shrek is a street cat of about 4 years old who suffers from scabies. I have tried several times to catch him to take him to the vet, but I haven't succeeded so far because he is very shy... I have to act as soon as possible because his scabies has already started to spread all over his body! Without this kibble campaign, I'm afraid he'll become even more fragile and won't survive..."
4. Donations are at their lowest, Kawthar is doing her best to keep her actions afloat, but she can no longer buy kibble.
"I make regular calls for donations on my Facebook page and even if social media plays a great role because it allows me to make my actions known, the help I receive is unfortunately not enough, and certainly not up to the number of followers!
I also try to sell accessories to support my actions with the stray cats, but the income I get from it barely allows me to buy a few boxes of medicine... Everything has become horribly expensive! The only regular support I get is from a Belgian association, which helps me with about 10 sterilizations per month. Although this help is very much appreciated, it is unfortunately not enough to effectively manage the stray cat population in my city...
I would love to be able to do more... to sterilize, care for and feed more cats! Alas, I depend entirely on the generosity of good people to continue helping the cats, and the lack of donations greatly limits my actions. I sincerely hope that some people will see this campaign and decide to participate... Without your support, nothing is possible!"
5. Kawthar isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the street cats from starving.
"We lack good souls in Temara... Even if I try to raise awareness about animals among children and adults, people who feel empathy towards animals are rare and those who invest themselves in the field are even more so. Mentalities take time to change, that's a reality. But what I would like most of all is for people to stop mistreating cats!
I do my best to keep cats away from violence. I feed them, spay and neuter them to reduce their proliferation, and vaccinate them to reduce the risk of spreading disease. It gives me great joy to know that my actions are helping improve their quality of life, but I would really like other young people to join me in helping them. Taking care of an animal is such a rewarding experience!"
6. If this campaign succeeds, Kawthar will not receive money but 920 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics centre in Morocco.
