Animal Webaction visited the site 09 April 2023 and confirms the situation described below.
"The financial situation of the association has become absolutely unmanageable. With the crisis, the war, the natural disasters, the weather conditions... people are afraid of tomorrow, they protect themselves and don't donate for animals anymore. Some months, I only have 100 euros in donations to feed all my dogs, treat them, pay my employees, pay the rent... Add to that the inflation and the result is simple: I can't see the end of the tunnel! I just feel like I'm sinking a little bit more every day...
I have not had any stock of kibble for a month now. I manage to find 1 or 2 bags of kibble every day, which we mix with dry bread. But it goes without saying that for 168 dogs, this is not enough... Malnutrition affects my dogs, they are becoming weak and I feel totally helpless.
The stress and the responsibilities I have are taking their toll on my health, I am tired, I am sick. Sick of not finding a solution, of not being able to improve the daily life of my beloved dogs... Helping animals is my vocation, but unfortunately today the lack of resources puts everything in jeopardy, starting with the survival of my dogs... Only this kibble delivery will be able to ensure their subsistence!"
"Since the closure of the American borders, our adoptions have been totally suspended. The shelter is therefore completely full, our difficulties in feeding everyone have never been so great, and the consequences of the lack of kibble are clearly felt... The dogs are suffering from nutritional deficiencies, they are weakened, thin, anaemic... My greatest fear is to see this situation last. To see diseases spread further, to see aggression increase between the dogs, to see my protégés lose their lives...
An animal shelter is a fragile ecosystem, which the slightest difficulty can overthrow. We had a big tick attack recently, and some dogs lost their lives... This is my worst nightmare. I don't want other dogs to suffer the same fate because of the lack of kibble! It is imperative that this campaign succeeds... It is the only way for my sick dogs to recover and for all my dogs to have full bellies!"
"Free is around 2 years old, he has ehrlichiosis, an infectious disease transmitted by ticks...He is under treatment but without a competent immune system, he has no chance of being able to eliminate the infection from his body! He is very weak... It is imperative that we receive this kibble, his recovery is at stake, and his survival!"
"The donations we receive are becoming increasingly scarce. Affected by inflation, people are very careful with their expenses, so they give less, if at all... For my part, lately, my health condition does not allow me to work anymore... I can't even count on this small income to support my actions with the dogs!
The lack of resources forces me to skip some rescues, sterilisations, treatments... Sometimes between a consultation at the vet's, an injection and a treatment to be bought at the pharmacy, I have to find 100 euros for a single dog... How can I do that when I have 0 in the till!? I'm in debt to continue as best I can, but it can't last forever...
In addition to the financial difficulties that the association is going through, my current state of health requires me to spend less time with my protégés... The management of the shelter remains in the hands of my team, but it is very difficult for me to have to leave my babies that I love more than anything else in the world! (Editor's note: we visited the shelter accompanied by Redouane, Ibtissam's right-hand man). It is still my duty to find funding for the shelter, and for my dogs to have food, whatever the cost. That's why I'm calling on you today! You are the only ones who can help us feed them..."
"Animal protection is more than a cause for me, it's a vocation! Unfortunately, I sometimes think that my 10 years of involvement have been for nothing. People don't understand why I dedicate my life, my time and my money to animals. People always ask me: why don't you give all this to humans, they have priority, don't they? Of course, there are also people who go so far as to forbid us to feed stray dogs because they don't want to see them in their neighbourhood. Lately, the shelter's surroundings are also starting to fill up with neighbours who don't agree with the dogs' barking. Well, that's just one problem among many...
I am exhausted physically, mentally and financially... My body is giving out because of the stress. But I don't want to give up, because I know that my actions make a difference! I am saving lives, and giving dogs a chance to live away from abuse. And what I do is not only good for the animals, but also for humans because I reduce the risk of spreading diseases and rabies infection. In that sense, everyone should welcome my actions! Unfortunately today, I feel more alone than ever in my fight..."
