"Every day, 95 cats from different areas of Témara rely on me. Unfortunately, new cats are abandoned daily on the streets without mercy. It's a never-ending circle. An abandoned cat has to learn to live on its own, to survive without the shadow of its owner. And for me, it's a new life to feed, sterilize and vaccinate! The needs are growing all the time, and yet the means don't keep up. Recently, I was unable to sterilize all the new abandoned females, due to a lack of donations. Inevitably, the number of cats has risen, and every day becomes a little more difficult...
At present, I can only feed the cats once a day, and I only have two bags of kibble left. Two bags, for almost a hundred mouths to feed! Quite simply, this collection is my last chance. If it fails, the cats will have nothing to eat, they'll starve and I'll be completely powerless... The kibbles aren't just food for them, they're their hope of survival. Without them, and without the success of this collection, the street cats won't be able to survive!"
"The consequences of this lack of kibble weigh heavily on street cats. Their state of health has become a constant concern. Lately, many have developed urinary tract infections and even coryza. I find it hard not to see the link with the lack of kibble... Just one ration a day isn't nearly enough! Cats need more to keep from getting sick.
I'm afraid the situation will get worse, that their health will deteriorate even further. The idea of not being able to find kibble is very hard to bear. The fear for my cats, and the doubts that accompany them, are omnipresent. Will I receive any donations? Will I be able to pay the bills? Will someone be there to help me take care of a sick cat?
These questions come up again and again, but the one that obsesses me most is the supply of kibble. The cats' well-being is all that matters to me, and without kibble, that well-being is threatened! Today, I can only count on you to be able to feed them, and ensure their survival..."
"Among all the street cats who rely on me is little Felix. He has just been abandoned and is suffering from scabies and coryza. His coryza is very advanced and the mange is spreading more and more over his body. For Felix, as for me, it's a race against time! The lack of kibble could undermine his already weak resistance. I'm afraid he'll become even more fragile... I need kibble at all costs to avoid that; and give him a chance to grow up healthy!"
"The harsh reality that hits me on a daily basis is the lack of financial means. Sometimes, the Stray Care International organization comes to my aid to provide food, kibble and litter. Unfortunately, their support has become uncertain, due to a lack of donations and the multitude of other associations they help.
I tried to organize an online collection to cover the veterinary bills, but the result was disappointing. Only €40 was raised, whereas the target was €1,500. I've found that people generally only donate when they see a dying cat or a serious case... And once the cat has been saved and the bill shared, no one comes forward to help pay the costs, on the pretext that the cat is already out of danger.
This lack of donations has a major impact on my ability to sterilize, treat, vaccinate and buy kibble for street cats. I'm constantly having to define priorities, and today my absolute priority is kibble. Without it, the cats won't survive!"
"I remember moments from my childhood, when my parents looked after stray cats by offering them food and water. These memories led me to want to do the same, to take care of them in my turn. Today, I'm 100% committed to their well-being. Every day, I give everything I have to ensure a better quality of life for them: I feed them kibble, vaccinate them, sterilize them and do my utmost to find them loving homes.
Every cat I sterilize reduces the number of kittens born to live and die on the streets, from hunger or disease. It's one more step towards reducing the proliferation of strays. These actions, though difficult, are necessary. They are not without their challenges, but I am encouraged by the small changes I see around me.
Recently, I've begun to notice that more and more people are leaving water in the street for stray cats. These small victories, however tiny, give me the strength to keep going. They remind me why I'm doing all this: for the cats who so desperately need someone to look after them. So despite the lack of kibble and the challenges, I remain hopeful and continue my fight for them."
