Animal Webaction visited the site 28 August 2023 and confirms the situation described below.
"The situation is really critical at the moment. The hundred or so street dogs under my care have only scraps to survive on, and the 52 dogs at the shelter have been eating reduced portions of kibble for almost 10 days. Many are showing signs of incipient illness, and their weakness and thinness are becoming more visible by the day. Fights are becoming commonplace, it's heartbreaking to see them fighting over food... And the recent increase in the number of stray dogs makes the situation even more critical.
Debts are piling up with the vet and the kibble supplier, and the shelter's utilities haven't been covered either. My sense of helplessness grows with each passing day, as I'm forced to reduce the portions of kibble... I can see in their eyes that they don't understand why they have less to eat. I know they count on me and I do my best to help them, but without kibble, I don't know how I'm going to keep them alive. Every night, I wonder if everyone will still be there the next day... It's crucial to find a solution to this kibble shortage! The success of this campaign is vital for all the dogs in my care, I'm pinning all my hopes on it..."
"The street dogs are already in a state of undernutrition, and if I don't find a way to build up a new stock of kibble, their condition could get even worse. The prospect of them losing even more weight is alarming, and diseases, already far too prevalent, are also likely to spread and worsen rapidly! Tensions are also on the rise, and fights between dogs could become more common and more violent... The emotional cost of this situation is immense.
It's a constant pain to watch them lose weight day after day, to see them fight for every morsel of food, and to see them succumb to disease. And even at the shelter, the rationing I'm currently forced to do is clearly not sustainable in the long term... Every day is a challenge to try to keep the dogs healthy and safe but without kibble, the shelter loses its main role and my actions with street dogs are in vain..."
"After contacting several suppliers in search of affordable rates, the situation remained unchanged. Despite negotiations, the cost of kibble continues to rise. From time to time, we get discounts, but they don't come close to offsetting the increase in the number of dogs in my care. Appeals for help on social media have had some response, but not enough. The donations received only cover one week's needs, which is far from enough to ensure a stable diet. I even tried to negotiate a debt repayment plan with one of the suppliers, but to no avail.
Unfortunately, my dealings with the local authorities have not led to any concrete support either. This makes me particularly anxious and helpless, because despite all our efforts, the kibble is still missing and the challenge of feeding these dogs continues. It's really heartbreaking to see these starving animals and not be able to do more for them. I feel helpless and constantly fear for their well-being. These animals rely on me, and although I'm determined not to let them down, it's getting harder and harder to find solutions."
"The daily survival of the shelter and street dogs I cherish so much depends entirely on kibble. It's much more than just food for them; every bag of kibble represents a glimmer of hope for a better future. But every day without it makes them more vulnerable to disease and malnutrition... For many, this is not just a possibility, but an alarming reality!
I wonder every day how I'm going to feed each dog properly. A shelter is supposed to be a place of comfort and security for these animals, but without kibble, it loses its very essence... The dogs' well-being is my absolute priority, and I feel powerless in the face of this shortage. Animals don't deserve to suffer for lack of resources!
I'm determined to do everything in my power to change things, but without a stable supply, my dream of a thriving shelter is impossible, and so is my mission to rescue and control the stray population. Only this campaign will enable me to maintain my commitment to these starving animals!"
"Every time I rescue a dog, it's an act of compassion, which I hope testifies to the humanity that remains within us. This mission is far from easy; its weight is felt a little more on my shoulders every day. The days are long, but despite everything, my determination never wavers. For me, every rescued dog is a victory, no matter how small! All these dogs have become my family... as for me, I'm often their only hope.
It's my passion and unconditional love for these animals that fuels my mission, and keeps me going despite the obstacles. The uncertain future of all these dogs only strengthens my determination to persevere. Of course, there are moments of doubt, and they're frequent, but I don't let them win... For these dogs, I'm their hope, their guardian angel. Their confidence in me fuels my daily battle, and I work tirelessly to keep up with the magnitude of the task ahead.
Every day, I fight to find enough kibble to feed them. For them, it's not just food, it's their hope of survival. The lack of kibble fills me with anguish and helplessness, but their confidence in me gives me the strength to carry on. I know I can't let them down, I have to keep going for them."
