Animal Webaction visited the site 04 November 2023 and confirms the situation described below.
"Economic instability is affecting us more and more. We're losing donors on a regular basis, which makes it very difficult for us. People can't help us because they're struggling with the crisis that's hit the world, so I can't be angry with anyone. Everyone's in trouble.
Unfortunately, the list of problems at the shelter is too long. Lack of kibble, vaccines, money for treatment and medication for sick dogs, straw... The situation is disastrous. We're also facing heavy rain and strong winds at the moment. Winter is just around the corner and it promises to be difficult. But our biggest problem is undoubtedly the supply of kibble. Providing enough kibble for all the dogs is a major challenge, one that we are unfortunately no longer able to meet.
The dogs don't eat enough. I've started to reduce the kibble portions and I can already see a change in their behavior. I don't know what will happen if this campaign fails - I'd be devastated... My dogs can't survive without kibble and I'm not in a position to provide them with what they need with the lack of resources I'm facing!"
"The reduced portions of kibble the dogs are forced to eat make them anxious. It's hard for me to see them suffer, and to have to separate them when they start fighting... Their health is deteriorating too, and it's particularly risky with the rain and cold coming this winter... They're already weak, and a prolonged lack of food would be fatal for their immune systems!
I'm not giving up hope. But believe me, it's very difficult to stay positive and calm. When I know that so many dogs depend on me and my efforts, it's not easy at all. I give 110% to give them everything they need, but I'm not omnipotent. I need the help of good people, I have no other option!"
"I found Bobo on the street when he was about a year old. I fed him every day for six months, then took him with me to the shelter. Unfortunately, Bobo has a liver tumor. He's undergoing therapy and treatment, but his condition is very serious... He's very weak, and some days he can't even stand up. He can't bear to lose even one more kilo! This kibble delivery is a matter of life and death for him; without it, he risks losing his battle against the disease..."
"Every day, I post messages on social media and ask for help, but there are fewer and fewer donors. People often show empathy but are unable to help, they just 'like' the post and that's it. I can understand, but unfortunately I need the help of others, I can't fund all the necessary expenses on my own. I have no income of my own because I spend all my time looking after the dogs at the shelter.
I'm juggling expenses, priorities and veterinary debts, and it's impossible for me to plan ahead. It's survival from day to day! The lack of funds means I have to cut back on kibble portions, postpone certain vaccinations... I'm doing my best to find a balance, but I have to admit I'm not succeeding! This kibble campaign is my only chance of obtaining the necessary quantities of kibble for my dogs, so that they no longer have to go hungry..."
"My mission is simple: to rescue animals in need, to offer them a home, care... despite the difficulties, the unconditional love these dogs have shown me over the years gives me immense happiness, and I will remain faithful to them to the end. Without our shelter and our rescues, they would be condemned to death! Our action is more than necessary, it's vital.
I help as much as I can, but it's getting harder and harder for me too. My health is fragile and no matter how much I want to help, my body lets me know that I don't have much strength. Beyond the physical constraints, the lack of help and donations also plays heavily on our morale, and our ability to do more for these dogs.
Imagine my husband and I with 65 dogs, and you'll understand. We can't do it alone, it's impossible. We need the help of kind-hearted people willing to provide financial support, a home, hay, medication, volunteers... We'd love to find like-minded individuals to join the cause, and motivate them to keep going. Any form of help is greatly appreciated. We really need it."
