Animal Webaction visited the site 04 November 2023 and confirms the situation described below.
"The kibble stock is at an all-time low, and the quality of what remains is far from meeting the nutritional needs of our 300 dogs. Rationing food has become a daily measure, a necessity to stretch the stock, however thin it may be. This is not without consequences: tensions emerge within the pack, fights break out between usually peaceful dogs, driven by hunger...
The recent arrival of new dogs has stretched our resources beyond their limits. Our limited finances do not allow us to replenish kibble stocks, and current donations are not enough to make up the growing deficit. Every day, the situation worsens, and my concern for these dogs keeps me on my toes. I observe the effect of this shortage on these beings whose lives depend entirely on human kindness. Without increased support, I fear the days ahead, when the bowls will remain completely empty!"
"I can already see the dogs' health deteriorating, some more visibly than others. I'm afraid they'll fall ill, from diseases born of hunger and undernutrition. An empty bowl means a crumbling immunity, rendering the vaccines administered to protect them ineffective... And without kibble, their only defense against the fast-approaching cold also disappears.
Fights, once rare, are now a daily occurrence. I do my best to maintain a semblance of peace, but without the necessary kibble, I know it's all for naught. The situation is critical. Without a sufficient supply of kibble, I can only imagine the escalation of violence, the possibility of them seriously injuring themselves, further weakening their already precarious condition. I'm even more worried about the possibility of this campaign failing... The 300 dogs who depend on me won't be able to survive without this delivery!"
"Despite negotiations with our kibble supplier for deferred payments, we have been refused. Appeals for donations via social media have met with little response, and hoped-for grants to finance the purchase of kibble have been refused. Attempts at sponsorship have yielded only scattered promises, and even if we cut our daily expenses as much as possible, the purchase of a stock of kibble remains out of reach.
Our efforts are multiplying, notably through participatory fundraising campaigns, but the objectives are not being met; the donations received barely cover a fraction of our real needs. Every initiative seems to come up against a wall of indifference, and the shelves where the bags of kibble once stood are now almost empty... We are sinking into an enduring crisis, and only this campaign can lift us out of it!"
"The lack of kibble not only threatens the immediate future of these animals, it undermines the very structure of our shelter. My days are now monopolized by the quest for kibble, I can't concentrate on other essential needs, everything takes a back seat. I'm forced to stop taking in new dogs, because how can I feed them?
The resources we could use to improve their living conditions or for community outreach programs are now diverted into an urgent quest for kibble. And in this context, preparing our dogs for adoption becomes an insurmountable challenge. They need strength, health and balance to be able to meet their future families. I observe with concern the consequences that are multiplying... Without kibble, we risk losing not only the trust of our donors but also the long-term viability of our action for all the animals who depend on us."
"Every day is a challenge to ensure the survival of these dogs who depend entirely on the help I can give them. The long hours pile up, the days stretch on, marked by incessant emergencies that leave no respite. In the face of often overwhelming indifference, my perseverance is constantly tested. Loneliness and exhaustion are constant companions, and the financial difficulties we face make our struggle even more arduous. We live day by day with the weight of uncertainty in a country where even the most basic necessities are a luxury!
At times like these, every sign of support, no matter how small, is a glimmer of hope, a temporary relief in this seemingly endless battle. The slightest help received is a breath of hope, both for me and for them, a reminder that we are not entirely abandoned! These moments of support are precious, they strengthen my resolve in the face of the indifference of our reality."
