Animal Webaction visited the site 25 November 2023 and confirms the situation described below.
"Our kibble supply is running dangerously low. This shortage is directly affecting the dogs in our care at the municipal pound. Without enough kibble, they are underfed and their health is declining. I see it every day in their thinner bodies and less energetic behavior...
The root of this problem is the lack of donations. We rely on these to keep our kibble stock replenished, but lately, they've been scarce. The quality of the kibble we do have is not great, which doesn't help the dogs' situation. It's become a cycle – less kibble means we can't take in new dogs that need our help.
As winter sets in with its snow and cold, the dogs need more food to stay warm. But with each day, our kibble supply gets smaller. I'm worried about what will happen if we don't get more kibble soon. The dogs might not make it through the winter if things don't change. This is the grim reality we're facing right now..."
"Without enough kibble, I see the dogs getting weaker every day, more vulnerable to diseases that we could normally prevent. The lack of kibble is causing more than just physical harm. It is reshaping the environment here, affecting how the dogs interact with us and with each other. They're getting restless and agitated, sometimes even aggressive.
More concerning is the prospect of dogs fighting among themselves out of desperation. The absence of kibble could lead not just to widespread dog fatalities but to a breakdown of the mutual trust and bond they share with us...
The thought of these dogs dying from something as preventable as a lack of kibble is a constant worry. This situation, if left unaddressed, could spiral into a tragedy of unimaginable proportions. We're not just talking about a few dogs; the absence of kibble could lead to many fatalities here."
"Our efforts to secure kibble for the dogs have faced numerous challenges. Our social media campaigns aimed at garnering support have had limited success, struggling to reach a wider audience. I've reached out to animal welfare organizations for help, but they too are stretched thin and unable to provide the aid we desperately need.
Contacting previous donors seemed like a hopeful avenue, but it turns out that many of them are facing their own financial hardships and can't contribute like they used to. I've also tried to engage volunteers to help with fundraising efforts for kibble, but we're facing a shortage of manpower.
Every personal appeal I've made for kibble support has been heartfelt, but the response has been modest. We're still far from meeting the needs of the dogs in our care. The situation is becoming increasingly dire, with our kibble reserves dwindling and no substantial solution in sight."
"Without adequate kibble, meeting the dietary needs of each dog has become a distressing challenge. This shortage has a ripple effect, forcing us to make the difficult decision to stop accepting new rescues, as we can barely sustain the ones currently in our care.
The impact of kibble scarcity is multifaceted. Long-term care planning for these dogs, which is essential for their health and well-being, is now fraught with uncertainty. Key programs like training and rehabilitation are compromised. The lack of proper nutrition affects their learning ability and behavior, making it harder to find them forever homes. Consequently, organizing adoption events has become more challenging, as the dogs are not in their best state to meet potential adopters.
The lack of kibble also severely limits our ability to manage the health and behavior of the dogs. A stable environment, so vital for these animals, is increasingly difficult to maintain. Each day, as I navigate these challenges, the reality becomes clearer: the lack of kibble threatens the very essence of our mission to provide them a safe haven."
"I am constantly fighting for the welfare of abandoned dogs. This mission, while deeply fulfilling, often leaves me feeling isolated. The challenge of caring for so many dogs with limited resources is immense and frequently overwhelming. Despite my efforts, the lack of resources casts a long shadow over our work.
In a country where animal welfare is often overlooked, the struggle to provide for these dogs is even more pronounced. Seeing them in need, knowing that I am limited in my ability to help, brings a profound sadness. Despite these challenges, the joy of seeing a dog adopted is indescribable. These moments are what keep me going. They remind me why I do this work, even though it can be hard and resources are always stretched thin."
