"I'm on the brink of running out of kibble, with nearly 200 dogs in my shelter waiting to be fed every single day. I've tried everything I could to make the kibble last for as long as possible, but I've now reached the limits of this solution, as I can't keep rationning kibble if I don't have any left...
I've already had to make difficult choices in distributing the remaining food available, always hoping it wouldn't lead to the worst. But seeing my dogs go hungry is really painful, and my heart sinks with the thought of not being able to feed them soon.
Their survival hangs by a very fragile thread, as they fully depend on my capacity to find kibble, and I don't have the slightest lead of a solution to fix that. I am really worried about a kibble shortage, and the dire consequences it would have."
"The prospect of starvation is terrifying, as it is not just some random unlikely specter, it is something that could happen for real, and that could bring irreversible harm to the dogs I've vowed to protect.
The lack of kibble could lead to a tragic spiral of malnutrition, illness and worse, the thought of any of them facing this is something I can't bear. And it goes beyond the dogs in my shelter, as it also means I won't be able to help strays in distress, who might starve as well or be forced into dangerous situations just to find something to eat.
My heart is heavy, this scenario is my nightmare as I know all too well that some will not survive a kibble shortage, and I might face losses I can't be prepared to endure."
"Sometimes I feel like my calls for help vanish into the void, with little to no response. Despite applying for grants and reaching out to many businesses, the support I hoped I would get hasn't materialized. I've tried to find sustainable solutions, like negotiating payment plans with suppliers or seeking further discounts, but to no avail.
Other shelters are unfortunately struggling as well so they cannot help, even for such an emergency, as they need to think about their dogs first, which I can of course understand. I love my dogs to bits, I would never ever let them down, and I'm doing everything in my power to keep them protected, but I feel more and more isolated and helpless as options keep fading."
"Each day without kibble dims the hope of maintaining a sanctuary for these dogs. The shortage ripple through everything, it compromises the care I can provide, the rescues I can make, the partnerships of local and international supporters, and so much more.
The trust I've built within my community is at stake, as is my mission of creating a no-kill environment for these dogs. If I can't care for them anymore, what will happen to them? I'm faced with the precarious balance between my ideals and the harsh reality, but I want to keep hoping and fighting."
"I am fully aware of my responsibility to these animals, it shapes every decision I make, and it drives me to overcome the obstacles that stand in our way. The support from other people, from the community, is the backbone of my efforts, it allows me to keep going as I can't carry such a weight without help.
Each dog I manage to rescue matters, but it goes further than that, as it is also about changing the way people perceive strays, hoping for a future where every dog is respected and has a home. The journey is full of setbacks and challenges, but I am still determined to make a difference for them."
