Animal Webaction visited the site 08 March 2024 and confirms the situation described below.
"Donations have significantly decreased lately. My kibble stock is dangerously low... I'm forced to ration portions to try and extend the supply as much as possible. The dogs' health is gradually deteriorating; they're becoming weaker, and I've noticed an increase in tension among them, leading to fights over the scarce resources available...
Given the current situation, I can no longer afford to carry on with rescue operations, as the immediate survival of those already under my protection is at stake! The thought of seeing them suffer even more deeply scares me..."
"If I can't find a way to get more kibble, I'm afraid the situation will quickly become untenable. The dogs are already showing signs of weakness, and without more food, their condition will only worsen! I'm very worried about the dogs, especially the older ones and those who are already sick. They might not survive this ordeal...
The lack of kibble also affects the cohabitation among the dogs, who are becoming increasingly aggressive towards each other. This makes the atmosphere at the shelter tense and sad... At the same time, this situation prevents me from considering taking in new dogs. The prospect of having to say no to animals in need puts me in a heartbreaking dilemma!
Every saved dog is a life improved, and the thought of not being able to offer them shelter when they need it most is particularly challenging. I feel a lot of pressure because I know these dogs' lives depend on me! It affects me deeply. I want the best for all of them, but without dog food, I don't know how I'll be able to continue protecting them..."
"I work every day to find solutions and obtain kibble, but it's far from easy! I regularly make appeals for donations on social media, but these are becoming increasingly rare. Even calls to the expatriate community for donations haven't borne fruit. I've set up a sponsorship system for the dogs in hopes of fostering deeper engagement, but this initiative hasn't received the expected support.
I've started negotiations with suppliers in hopes of reducing the cost of kibble to no avail. It was another blow, as a cost reduction would have expanded our room to maneuver, allowing us to allocate our resources towards other critical needs, like veterinary care.
Unfortunately, my efforts haven't yielded the hoped-for results, and the support remains insufficient to cover our kibble needs. I feel really stuck and alone in facing this problem. Each failure makes the situation even more urgent! I wonder how I'm going to continue feeding the dogs... The uncertainty about the future of the shelter and my charges torments me immensely."
"Every day, the difficulty of adequately feeding the dogs highlights how their quality of life is intimately linked to the availability of kibble. Without it, preparing the dogs for adoption is compromised, making it harder to place them in loving homes.
This also hinders our sterilization efforts. Adequate nutrition is fundamental to ensure the success of these campaigns, which are essential to control the canine population and prevent the birth of puppies in precarious conditions.
The lack of food resources also has a profound impact on the morale of our team. Seeing the animals we love and fight for every day in food distress erodes our motivation and hope... Everything depends on kibble, without it, our mission to save and care for these animals cannot be sustained!"
"I've been confronted with animal distress since I was very young. Every day, I saw homeless, starving, and often injured dogs. This sight was unbearable to me. I couldn't just ignore their suffering and walk away! That's what drove me to create this shelter, a space where these animals could find safety, care, and a second chance.
Every dog that I welcome into the shelter leaves an indelible mark on my heart. Their well-being is my absolute priority, and every success, every animal that finds a loving home, fuels my hope and determination to never give up.
My journey is not easy, but I am convinced that this fight is worth it. Seeing the transformations of dogs who, from fearful and sick, become joyful and healthy thanks to our care is an invaluable reward. This mission goes beyond the shelter; it has become an integral part of who I am!"
