"I'm down to just a few bags of kibble... I've had to cut back on the portions I give the dogs to make what little I have last longer. They're not getting enough to eat! They seem anxious every time mealtime comes around; as if they know tougher times are ahead... It breaks my heart to see them like this.
It's truly disheartening to see how difficult it has become to feed my dogs. It feels like it's getting harder day by day! Prices seem to change every month, and they're always on the rise. Lately, I've also heard worrying news from several friends and donors who've lost their jobs and are struggling to make ends meet. This greatly concerns me, for them as well as for us. If buying kibble was already a challenge, I'm left wondering how I'll manage to do so now...
This campaign is really our only hope to get kibble at this point. The consequences of it failing would be disastrous! The need for kibble can't be put off until tomorrow; the dogs need to eat every day..."
"We're relieved to be coming out of the long, cold winter... But alas, every season brings its own set of challenges. With spring's arrival, allergies have already begun to cause us problems. Many dogs are suffering from eye allergies, demodicosis...
If the kibble shortage we're facing lasts much longer, it will undoubtedly affect the dogs' health, especially those who are already vulnerable or prone to weight loss. Sadly, this is the case for most of them; they're in the shelter because they were too weakened to survive on their own outside!
Their condition could quickly worsen if we don't get new supplies of kibble. This campaign must succeed... Without it, I honestly don't know what will happen to my dogs. They're already so weak and fragile, kibble is essential for them to survive and build their immunity against diseases!"
"I found Blackie about 2 months ago. I rescued her along with her 8 puppies. They were on the street, lying on a piece of cardboard... A sad sight. Unfortunately, Blackie had been hit by a car before I found her, injuring her left front leg. She limps when she walks and only occasionally puts weight on it.
We've taken her for an X-ray, and now we're waiting to find out the appropriate treatment. She's really scared, and it will take time to gain her trust. We still don't know what kind of therapy or surgery will be necessary for her. All we know is that she needs kibble to stay strong and endure what's ahead!"
"It's becoming increasingly difficult to manage the constant price increases, whether it's for kibble, veterinary care, or the operational bills of the shelter... The rate of inflation is staggering! I worry about the future. The number of donors is decreasing, costs are skyrocketing, and the price of kibble continues to rise... The situation is too unstable; I can't plan anything long-term. I'm always juggling expenses, priorities, and debts... We're surviving day by day.
Except for my husband who helps out whenever he can, I'm on my own, dealing with numerous health issues, and I'm not in a position to financially support my dogs. This is the hardest thing for me to accept! I wish I had an income, be it a salary or a pension, to contribute to the well-being of my animals. It hurts a lot, but I grit my teeth and keep fighting. I don't have the luxury of sitting down and crying; I must keep fighting because my dogs rely on me to fill their bowls..."
"From my earliest years, the love and tenderness of dogs brought me immense happiness. Their companionship was a sanctuary for me, warding off any bad times with their affection. Over time, my love for them grew, and I felt an increasing desire to help by feeding them and providing makeshift shelters.
When I learned about the existence of death-row pounds and the cruel fate awaiting dogs caught in the streets, I felt compelled to fight for them and save them from such a tragic end. Initially, it broke my heart to know that people could do such things... Even with time, that feeling hasn't faded!
Despite emotional exhaustion, I decided to dedicate every ounce of my strength to saving as many dogs as possible. Regarding the local community, it can be very challenging to make significant progress. Many people lack empathy... But I believe I've managed to raise awareness among many people around me. We can all become better individuals by simply feeding a dog. Dogs are the most grateful beings in the world, you can see it in their eyes. Every small gesture means the world to them! Seeing broken dogs find comfort and safety from the harshness of the world in my shelter is my greatest reward."
