Abbe is a 24-year-old horse, who suffers from recurring sheath abscesses. In order to avoid infections, it would be necessary to operate on him, but the anaesthesia would be too risky given his age. We are therefore resorting to antibiotics to minimise the damage.
Each time his abscesses recur, Abbe feels a little weaker and loses a significant amount of weight. This, in turn, makes him more vulnerable, creating a vicious cycle.
In order to maintain a steady weight, Abbe would need to be supplemented throughout the year. Given his age and his health issues, such a source of nutrients would provide enormous support!
With the onset of winter, the expenses of the association increase. We try our best to drum up some funds with Christmas markets, but it's not enough. During this time, the animals need more food, more care, and so on. Our budget simply is inadequate to meet these demands!
