"The kibble supply is nearly depleted... I only have one bag left, which I need to split between the shelter and the streets. The dogs have been on reduced rations for 20 days now. And these are just low-grade kibbles that I could buy with the scarce donations received...
I give them bread when possible so they have at least something in their stomachs; but it's far from enough. Watery stools, weakened immune systems, nervousness... The signs of malnutrition are already there.
New dogs are constantly being abandoned. My meager resources can't keep up... There's currently a mother and her four puppies that were just thrown out onto the street, and a shar-pei with infected eyes that I can't save. This campaign is my only hope to stay afloat and help all these dogs!"
"Without kibble, it's a guaranteed disaster for the dogs. Those I've rescued from the streets are already weakened, and their bodies won't withstand deprivation for long. They'll weaken, lose weight, and fall prey to diseases...
As for the street dogs, hunger will drive them to stray further in search of food, at the risk of their lives. They could get hit by cars on the road, or suffer from abuse! There's currently a mother and her 4 puppies that have just been thrown out onto the street, and a shar-pei with infected eyes that I can't take to the shelter because of the lack of kibble...
I'm so worried for them... I desperately need kibble to feed them and take care of them. Alone, dno matter how hard I try, I won't be able to manage!"
"Despite all my efforts, I can't secure any help for kibble. I've contacted the town hall, local authorities, to no avail. No support to be expected from their side.
I've also tried to mobilize people via social media, but donations remain meager. With the crisis, people are already struggling to feed themselves, let alone the dogs... I've written to kibble manufacturers, to other associations... But between the crisis and the multitude of animals in need, the responses are almost nil.
I've knocked on every door, but to no effect. Debts are piling up at the vet station, and donations are too low to buy more kibble. I feel like I'm fighting against windmills, and my dogs' bowls remain desperately empty..."
"The state of the kibble stock dictates my days. If I don't have enough, I must immediately seek solutions, call for donations, or find cheaper substitutes.
I spend my days counting, trying to work miracles with almost nothing. I have to recalculate the kibble doses, adjust care so that everyone can make it through, but without the nutrients they should have, it's like trying to plug a leak without tools...
It's simple: every hour spent trying to solve this kibble problem is an hour less spent directly helping the dogs! It's frustrating, because I want to do more, but I'm constantly held back by this basic necessity..."
"Our association was founded with a clear mission: to save severely injured, sick, and mistreated dogs, those who would have no chance of survival on the streets. We treat them, rehabilitate them, help them regain trust in humans, and try to find them a loving home.
Unfortunately, here in Serbia, a dog's life isn't worth much; abandonment and mistreatment are common. Animals often don't receive the respect they deserve. The law, meant to protect them, is regularly flouted. Worse still, those who abandon or mistreat these innocent beings often go unpunished, while those of us who strive to help them face enormous obstacles!
Every day, saving these animals is a great sacrifice. There is no rest, no relaxation. The challenges are constant, but I assure you, seeing a dog that we've saved, treated, and eventually finds a loving home, is an immeasurable reward!"
