1. In North Macedonia, Ivana is almost out of kibble to feed the hundreds of dogs she takes care of, at the shelter, on the streets and the dumps: they'll starve if no one helps!
"It's so difficult right now. We've done everything to get donations these past few months, but it hasn't been enough. We rescued several dogs from the dump, including a severe case of a dog with a huge tumor. The vet bills completely drained what little money we had...
For the past 10 days, I've been reducing the portions of kibble at the shelter. On the streets, I'm handing out leftover food, and as for the dumps... it's simple, I can barely go there anymore. I don't have enough to feed everyone!
The dogs are already suffering, you can tell: they're losing weight. I can't take in any new dogs at the shelter. It kills me to have to say no, but without kibble, what choice do I have? Every night, I go to sleep with a knot in my stomach. If kibble doesn't come soon, I don't know how the dogs will survive..."
2. The dogs in the landfills live in appalling conditions: without kibble, Ivana is a spectator of their agony!
"If we don't get kibble, it's going to be a disaster. The dogs at the dumps will fight to death for the few scraps they can find. Eating garbage; being poisoned: that's what's going to happen. Without my kibble distributions, they're practically doomed.
The situation of stray dogs in Skopje is troubling, especially at the dumps. These dogs—literally thrown away with our trash—are the result of our most abject negligence! Every day, I fear for their lives, and even more so now that I'm running out of kibble... It's an anxiety I wouldn't wish on anyone."
3. Ivana is facing one setback after another in her quest for kibble and support: she can only rely on this campaign to feed her dogs!
"I've tried everything to get kibble, I really have. Online fundraisers, reaching out to companies, even going door-to-door to beg for donations - all of this has yielded almost nothing. Even my attempts to negotiate discounts on the price of kibble have failed...
Meanwhile, the dogs are getting weaker, and each treatment, each veterinary operation that follows, eats away the little money we could use for kibble. The veterinary debts keep piling up... It's an endless cycle of worry!"
4. Ivana isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.
"Without kibble, we can't do anything here. No new rescues, no proper medical care, no rehabilitation for adoption.
There are so many dogs in the city that need help: injured, sick, or starving. Our shelter is one of the few places where these dogs can hope to get assistance.
When we can't operate fully because we don't have enough kibble, we leave these vulnerable animals without a safety net! Kibble is the basic necessity that allows me to be effective in my mission. Without it, I'm powerless to help these innocent lives."
5. Ivana defies all odds to ensure dignity and respect for abandoned animals.
"Caring for these animals is not just a job for me, it's a calling. Seeing what humans have done to these animals, the neglect, the cruelty... it's hard to bear sometimes. But I face it because they deserve better. Dignity, at least.
In this fight, I have few allies and many obstacles. Most people look the other way when it comes to the fate of animals. That's why any support we receive, even small, is crucial!
The small victories: seeing a dog's health improve, successful adoptions... The eyes of the dogs looking at me with pure trust after knowing only fear... that's the most precious thing. That's why I can't give up."
6. If this campaign succeeds, Ivana will not receive any money but 1900 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Macedonia.
