Animal Webaction visited the site 15 May 2024 and confirms the situation described below.
"I barely have enough kibble to last 5 days. I spend all my time trying to find funding, with relative success! There are very few donations, and expenses keep rising: rent, employees, transportation, kibble...
I'm forced to ration portions, both at the shelter and on the streets. I also have to stop any new rescues for the time being. I have no other choice since I don't have enough to feed them! It's terrible, I can't sleep at night... I fear the worst if this situation continues!
"At the shelter, we have many sick, injured, and disabled cats: tripods, blind, deaf, ataxic... These cats cannot survive on their own! Yet if we don't receive kibble soon, the shelter will have to close and our 370 cats will be put back on the streets...
This is not an optimistic prospect, especially when you know the living conditions of stray cats. Here, animal misery is everywhere... Street cats are easy prey, regularly victims of accidents, mistreatment and disease. Even with time, I still can't get used to it!
Without new kibble, I will be forced to stop feeding the street cats first. Deprived of our distributions to feed and protect them, I don't give much for their survival... It's a race against time that we can't afford to lose!"
"I've tried everything to find kibble. I've launched appeals on social media, contacted foundations, companies, stores, but nothing works. I don't have any help from the state or private aid locally.
It's difficult to raise awareness about the animal cause in Morocco and make people understand the importance of feeding these animals. Adoptions are also almost non-existent, which doesn't even slightly alleviate our situation.
This powerlessness exhausts me! I'm always referred back to my precarious situation, without ever being offered a real solution... I feel terribly alone in facing this ordeal."
"Today, our most urgent and pressing need is kibble. Without it, we cannot feed the cats, and everything else loses its meaning. Veterinary care, shelter improvements, sterilization campaigns... All these important actions depend on our cats being well-fed first.
The kibble shortage jeopardizes our fight to improve the animal condition in Morocco. It nullifies the prospects for cats in distress, who can no longer be welcomed and cared for in our shelter. It is crucial to understand that the lack of kibble has repercussions far beyond simply feeding the cats!"
"In addition to the cruel lack of means, indifference and incomprehension are my worst enemies... Although Morocco is renowned for its hospitality and generosity, the animal condition is too often neglected, even scorned.
Defending these voiceless beings is a mission to which I have devoted myself body and soul, but the obstacles are immense... There are so many cats and dogs on the streets, so much animal misery, that I often feel alone against everyone.
It's not always easy, but my fight for animals is my passion, my reason for being. If I can save even just one of them, then I tell myself it's worth it!"
