"I almost have no more kibble left to feed the 120 dogs in the shelter. The number of dogs has recently increased, always for the same sad reasons: people abandoning their pets without any consideration...
Our last bags of kibble are disappearing before our eyes, and donations are not enough to meet our needs. Every meal is a struggle, every day is a battle to find something to feed our protégés. I have a knot in my stomach just imagining them with empty bellies if this campaign fails!"
"Without new kibble, it won't take much more for the situation to deteriorate at the shelter. My dogs will weaken and their health will decline.
Their failing immune systems will make them more vulnerable to diseases. Hunger, skin problems, coat issues, dehydration... all these consequences will come quickly.
These prospects are unbearable for me. I vowed to do everything I could to offer them a dignified and happy life. I care more about their well-being than my own! Watching them waste away would be a real ordeal..."
"I've tried everything in vain. Appeals for donations, the raffle... nothing has been enough to replenish the stocks. With debts accumulating at the veterinary clinic and insufficient donations, I no longer have the means to buy kibble.
I had to dip into my meager savings for the last bags. But my resources are far from unlimited! I am in total uncertainty for tomorrow. And yet, the dogs must eat daily, regardless of my circumstances..."
"Kibble is vital for the sustainability of the shelter. Without it, I can't take in new residents or properly care for those already here.
The lack of kibble also jeopardizes adoption projects. Without adequate nutrition, the dogs' health would deteriorate, making them less 'adoptable'. All my efforts to find them a loving home would be in vain.
It's the very future of the shelter and its mission that's at stake! Without kibble, I simply can't fulfill my role of protecting these animals."
"Running an animal shelter involves working every day, all year round, no matter the weather outside, no matter the circumstances. It's a relentless fight that takes all my time and energy, but I can't stay indifferent to their distress.
In Serbia, dogs are neglected, abandoned for any reason. My shelter is full, the surrounding shelters are too, yet the number of stray dogs keeps increasing! The lack of money, people's indifference, the magnitude of the stray dog problem... Sometimes, I feel discouraged.
But helping these dogs is what keeps me going despite the difficulties. And the support of people who share my vision! Every donation, every act of solidarity reminds me that I am not completely alone in fighting for this cause."
