1. In Bosnia, Svjetlana will soon run out of kibble to feed the 132 dogs in her shelter. They will starve if no one helps them!
"The stock of kibble is almost empty! For five days, I've been forced to reduce the portions for the 132 dogs at the shelter.
The quality of the remaining kibble is poor, but I have no other choice than to use it... Donations have significantly decreased in recent months, and without money, I can't order new kibble!
This diet is already causing tensions among the dogs, they're becoming nervous... Without this delivery to calm them down, I risk losing control of the pack!"
2. Fights between dogs will turn into carnage without kibble... Svjetlana fears for the weaker ones!
"The dogs are becoming more and more aggressive and territorial. They growl and bare their teeth as soon as another gets too close during meals... Fights will inevitably increase if I can't renew the kibble stock.
The strongest dogs might resist for a few weeks, but the many elderly dogs at the shelter won't stand a chance against the others... I can't let this nightmare happen, I couldn't bear it. Seeing my protégés fight over crumbs is horrifying!"
3. Colossal debts, dwindling donations: Svjetlana no longer knows where to turn to get kibble!
"The financial situation of the shelter is catastrophic. We've accumulated nearly 3000 euros in debt to the local veterinary clinic. Our debt keeps growing and with donations decreasing, I don't have the means to pay it back...
I've called for donations on social media, but people can no longer contribute like before. I even begged the supplier to grant us credit to order kibble, but they refused because of our unpaid bills...
I'm devastated by all these consecutive failures. Every door is closing in front of me! I'm fighting to offer them a better life but without kibble, I'm totally powerless."
4. Svjetlana isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.
"My daily life at the shelter is turning into a logistical nightmare without kibble. Instead of dedicating myself to caring for and ensuring the well-being of the dogs, I spend my time looking for something to feed them. Begging shops for their scraps, pleading with neighbors...
Mealtimes have become an ordeal, strewn with tensions and fights that I must constantly calm. Separating the dogs, soothing tempers, managing injuries... I don't have a second to breathe.
My entire days are consumed by managing kibble scarcity at the expense of my true mission: taking care of the dogs' well-being, their care, their adoption... The very purpose of this shelter is being distorted!"
5. Away from the spotlight, Svjetlana fights with courage and compassion to ensure a brighter future for the abandoned animals of Bosnia.
"Taking care of abandoned and suffering animals is far from easy, especially here in Bosnia where we severely lack resources and help. You have to get up early to feed them, clean the kennels, care for them... It's a real marathon every day.
But I don't do it for the accolades. Just out of love for these animals. Seeing them recover and regain their zest for life after what they've been through is priceless!
I keep going because I tell myself that I can change things a little, at my humble level. Do everything to offer them a new life, a better one. That's the only thing that matters in the end."
5. If this campaign succeeds, Svjetlana will not receive any money but 1350 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics centre in Bosnia.
