Worms, lice, emaciation: poor Spirit was in a pitiful state when he arrived!

1. He was in terrible shape...

Spirit is a 10-month-old pony, whom we saved from the slaughterhouse. When we rescued him, he was in awful health: terribly thin, infested with lice and worms. His tough start in life hindered his growth.

2. He lost an eye!

Suffering from untreated glaucoma, Spirit had to undergo surgery to remove an eye. He has now lost half of his field of vision and must learn to live with this new disability.

3. Pellets would help him healthily regain his strength

A supplement such as pellets would provide essential vitamins and minerals to Spirit. This would be an excellent way for him to regain energy and gradually catch up his growth delay. Being able to finally gain weight would greatly help him become a healthy adult!

4. The increased costs and responsibilities greatly impacted our budget...

Facing a significant rise in the number of animals we take on toward the end of winter, our treasury has been severely impacted. Managing 34 animals daily is becoming increasingly challenging! The increased veterinary costs, in particular, are testing our ability to provide our charges with the necessary care and nutrition...
