1. In Bosnia, Slobodanka is almost out of kibble to feed the 141 dogs in her shelter. They will starve if no one helps them!
"We take care of 141 dogs at the shelter, each with their own story and needs. Unfortunately, prices have skyrocketed, making it increasingly difficult to meet their needs and buy kibble.
Our stock is depleting rapidly, and soon we will have nothing left to give them. We have already been reducing portions for the past three weeks: the dogs are starving! Some have lost weight; all are becoming weaker...
We cannot consider new rescues because we would have nothing to give them anyway. Yet, people continue to drop dogs at our doors, even though the shelter is isolated in the mountains! We are overwhelmed... The situation at the shelter is worse than ever!"
2. Without kibble, the shelter's most fragile dogs risk succumbing...
"At the shelter, several of our dogs have special needs: among them is a legless dog who has already fought so hard to survive, and one under veterinary care after being found in a pitiful state. These dogs are very fragile; rationing endangers their recovery, their health, and their mere survival!
Beyond the physical consequences, there are also psychological repercussions. Hunger makes all the dogs nervous and anxious, exacerbating tensions. Fights will soon break out if we do not get kibble.
All I wish is to be able to feed my dogs properly, keep them safe, and healthy... When they look at me at mealtime, and I know I don't have enough to give them, it's a real stab to the heart..."
3. Burdened by hardship and debt, Slobodanka won't be able to feed her dogs without this campaign!
"Our financial situation no longer allows us to buy the necessary kibble to feed all the dogs. We have debts everywhere... Donations continue to decrease, and the adoption rate is almost zero.
We have tried everything: we have launched donation appeals on social media, contacted companies and associations, and even organized street collections. But nothing works, and we receive no support from local authorities or the state. We feel helpless in the face of this situation, powerless to prevent the looming disaster!"
4. Slobodanka isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.
"Sabina, the president of the association, and I manage this shelter together. We hardly have any private life because we fight relentlessly to ensure the survival and well-being of our protégés.
Every day, we face suffering, abandonment, and the cruelty that some humans can exhibit... The lack of resources, support, and general indifference makes our mission even more difficult.
There is no break, no respite. It's very exhausting on a daily basis! But we continue because we believe in what we are doing. We are convinced that every dog deserves a chance to live a happy life!"
