"We take care of about 140 free-roaming cats, spread across five feeding sites. Unfortunately, our stock is running out at lightning speed: we only have enough to last a few more days. After that, we will have nothing left!
Since we have been rationing the cats for three months, many have lost weight, their fur is not looking good, and some have fallen ill. At several sites, the cats are aging. We will have to further reduce the already meager rations… With summer here, we fear that the most vulnerable won't make it without kibble!"
"While we already have 35 kittens in foster care, there are still many more and pregnant females on the sites that we will need to trap. Taking care of the babies, sterilizing the mothers… all of this costs money! Not to mention the numerous veterinary expenses for all the free-roaming cats (the care budget reaches 16,000 euros per year!). The subsidies we receive are only 2,000 euros, which is far from covering these various costs…
Donations are also insufficient, and it's only getting worse: they have dropped by 60%! With the crisis, people are giving less. Consequently, more and more associations are in need… it is becoming almost impossible to get a slot to launch shopping cart operations! The next one is only in October… How are we going to hold out until then with so few resources?"
"Noiraud is a free-roaming cat of about six years old, who has been living on the street for at least a year and is in a pitiful state. We don't know how he ended up there, but he can't adapt to life outside…
Lately, he has been losing all his fur and has lost a lot of weight, and we can't figure out why. Since he is very fearful, we haven't been able to take him to the vet yet. Already very weakened, he won't make it if we don't have any kibble to give him!"
"Since the association was founded four years ago, taking care of the needy cats takes up a huge amount of time and energy every day. I handle the feeding, I run sterilization campaigns, and I try to organize flea markets. But despite all the efforts made, the situation is particularly difficult!
The reasons: rising prices and the increasing number of abandonments. Being unemployed, I have no personal resources to feed and care for the cats. I do my best, but it's not enough!"
