Animal Webaction visited the site 27 June 2024 and confirms the situation described below.
"67 dogs depend on me, and I have only five days of kibble left, at most. I’m forced to ration their portions, but that doesn't stop the panic from rising every time I see the bottom of the bags getting closer... Five days... and then what?
The consequences are already being felt: the dogs are losing weight, and we are unable to accept new rescues. This situation is an enormous source of stress, both for the animals and for me.
Every month, the bills pile up: rent, veterinary fees for sick dogs... Until recently, we managed, but it’s clear that we cannot continue like this without help. This kibble campaign is all we have left. But hope doesn't fill empty bowls!"
"Hunger will inevitably lead to increased aggression among the dogs. Even our calmest dogs will start displaying resource-guarding behaviors if we don’t find kibble soon!
Fights could break out during meals, leading to injuries that we are unable to treat, given our limited resources. The weakest, the oldest, those already bearing the scars of past abuse... they will be the first to suffer in this situation.
I couldn’t bear to see our dogs turn on each other. But hunger is stronger than all the bonds they've forged so far..."
"I have a few regular donors, but for how long, that's the question! The economy is hitting everyone hard, and caring for the dogs is expensive - I have young dogs, old dogs, sick dogs that need costly veterinary care. My debts are piling up with no end in sight...
I also need to gather money each month for kibble, rent, and it's very difficult to raise funds for this. I've tried collections, online appeals, and even door-to-door. Unfortunately, the donations are too low and the costs too high for us to manage on our own!
It’s only with your support that we can provide the kibble our dogs need... Every amount you can give brings us closer to this goal!"
"I'm not going to sugarcoat it - this work is tough. It’s long hours, heartbreak, a lot of responsibilities, and constant worry... The challenges are huge, and the victories often seem small in comparison.
But every life we improve matters. Every successful adoption, every animal cared for and healed - these are the moments that make it all worthwhile. It's incredibly rewarding, and it's what motivates me every morning!
It's not about being a hero or saving every animal in Bosnia. It’s about doing what we can, with what we have, to make a difference. I look at the animals we’ve saved, I see how their lives have changed, and that’s how I find the strength to keep going..."
